Unobtainable (An Emison Story)

Chapter 18

Alison's POV

"...Look. Ali, I understand how it was uncalled for me to just act on my impulse. But I will not apologize..."She continued while our faces were still only inches apart,"...for kissing you." I caught her eyes quickly glancing from my lips back up to my own eyes.

Nope I can't...I won't let this happen. I have to get Emily out of my head and fast. News spreads fast about her ways in her old school and the last thing I want is someone who will cheat on me or won't commit.

I lean back, "Yeah well you should!" I rolled my eyes and turned around.

"Yeah that's right, you tell her Ali!" Noel chanted me on. Suddenly I got a great idea, hey this could work...

I turn back around facing Noel, "Hey Noel!" I greeted flirtatiously. In the corner of my eye I saw Emily's smile quickly falter.

Ok if I'm being honest here, that kinda made me sad. But thank goodness I said kinda, right?

I mean why should I feel bad, I'm the one saving myself from a heartbreak, right? Regardless, I quickly turned back around and picked up on the girls conversation. I think it was something about a swim meet? I know I'm going to get dragged there by Han, Cece, and Spence so I'm already dreading it.

Writers POV

Shortly after Emily's smile faltered, she remembered that no one was going to get the best of her. Not Noel. Not Alison, no one. Today was one of her favorite days and nothing was going to ruin it.

Mr. Fitz returned, "Considering that I missed a good portion of the period," he said "let's get into pairs and finish reading chapter 7!"

Emily's POV

I zoned out until I heard Mr. Fitz say something about reading with partners or something like that. I look in front of me getting ready to ask Alison to be my partner. Maybe I could convince her to talk to me but instead I'm found with Noel standing next to Alison already asking her to be his partner.

Great!

Obviously Alison doesn't think that Noel is half bad because she accepted. I'm trying so hard to block all these negative things so I don't even try to interfere. I look to the left side of the room for Aria. Inconveniently I heard her and Cece agreeing to be partners. Hanna is partners with Spencer and Toby and Caleb are also partners. Why can't this be like a group of threes or something. I quickly look for some of my new friends on the swim team.

Unsurprisingly they all have partners. Well all except, Paige but honestly she creeps me out and she always stares.

I finally decide to get up, spotting Lucas and will you look at that, with no partner. Today must be my lucky day, I mean I think he's my lab partner and he's not half bad. I approach him cheerfully. Happy that I don't have to keep looking so I can finish reading this darn book.

I go up to Lucas, "Hey Luc-"

Next thing I know, one of Noel's stupid jock friends pulls him aside and practically forces him to be his partner. I mean, at least I was going to ask him to be my partner first.

Mr. Fitz interrupts my wondering eyes, "Emily!! Looks like you and Mona are partners!"

Who the hell is Mona!?!?!?!

Wait, this better not be the same Mona that stares at me in history class! I think Alison calls her loser Mona or something like that.

Honestly, she's kinda creepy for staring but she's not a loser. I mean sometimes Alison can be really rude.

I look to the right and there she is, almost giving me a heart attack.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" She answers shyly while looking at the ground. I feel bad, I mean she kinda dresses like a nerd but I don't think you can really dress like a loser.

"Um no you're fine, lets go to my seat. I think there's an empty desk nearby so we can just bring them together or something." I suggest while she just nods.

I start to walk and realize she not following me ughh, "Ok come on Mona!" I try to say as cheerful as possible, trying not to lose my energy and focus for today.

I grab her hand and led us to my desk. Once we're there, unfortunately behind Alison and Noel stupid Kahn, I bring another desk for Mona. Only to notice that she blushing.

After a minute or so of awkward silence me and Mona fall into comfortable chit chat about the book. Turns out we both got bored and read ahead.

"You know some people followed the rules and didn't read ahead. So I'd really appreciate it if you two losers didn't spoil it for us!" Alison complained.

"First of all like you actually care, that's probably the first time you ever even picked up the book. And second we're no losers so turn around and do your work." Alison just scoffs and turns back around clearly defeated.

Turns out Mona's actually really funny, hilarious actually and you know what she not bad looking either it's just her glasses and hair.

"So how badly do you need your glasses?" I suspiciously ask.

She chuckles, "A lot so don't try to take them off and put them on yourself."

I laugh, "I won't I just have a theory."

"What!?? Miss to cool for school knows what a theory is?"

"Actually I do know what it is and you can't even argue that I am to cool for school!" I joke around all cocky-like.

She just smirks and shrugs agreeing with me. "See, now do you want to hear it or not?" I question.

She just smiles and nods while bringing her hands under her chin as a chin rest.

I laugh at her and continue, but not before seeing Alison spying on us from the corner of her eye.

I smirk knowing she jealous, I mean who wouldn't be. I mean come on now look at me. JUST KIDDING!

"Have you ever used contacts?" I ask Mona.

"I actually do! I just don't wear them at school"

I reach over to her and gently take off her glasses, "Oh yeahhh, my theory is definitely right!" I say a tad bit louder making sure Alison is paying attention to us.
