Chapter Three
I was stood just inside the main entrance to the base with Phasma beside me, tapping her foot impatiently as we awaited the arrival of a certain new Sith.
"Where the hell is that boy? He's five minutes late," she spat, shifting the weight of the large gun cradled in her arms
"He's probably just lost or something," I sighed, actually trying to defend him, "maybe I should have stayed with him. This is his first day after all."
In my peripheral vision I saw her turn her body towards me, my mind almost able to conjure up the moderately shocked expression on her face beneath her chrome mask.
"Are you... defending him? After all that talk of him being nothing but a burden to you? My my, he must be special," her words dripped with something sickly that I chose to ignore, glad that my helmet was shielding the growing scowl on my face.
"He's strong with the Force and a valuable ally, it would be a waste of a good leader if we treated him like an average soldier," trying to make up some sort of excuse to my reasons for defending him - when in reality, not even I knew why I was doing it - I spoke part of the honest truth. Luckily, just when Phasma was about to retort something else, the iconic form of Kylo strode into view; his long legs quickly swallowing up the distance with his powerful strides. He was stood before us in no time, but it was me that he turned to face.
"Forgive me, ma'am. I couldn't locate the entrance in time," his words seemed rushed, liked he'd jogged to get here and had run out of breath.
"You won't be punished for lateness within this first week. After that, I expect you to have memorised the entire base, and to know the whereabouts of every single room and chamber," as always with him, my words were stern as I gave him a quick look over; making sure he looked the part for the mission that we were about to go on. I nodded to Phasma, who opened the main entrance doors and strode out, flanked by two Stormtroopers. I pushed Kylo forwards between his shoulder blades after noticing that he was hunched over again.
"No slouching!"
"Yes ma'am."

Our generously sized spacecraft soon touched down on the world we were to stock up on supplies from. The journey from the base to the luscious green planet of Takodana was a short one, and I spent it on briefing Kylo on his role for this mission. He was simply to stand by my side as I did the talking, and if anyone was to show hostility, he would use his intimidating assets wisely.
We stepped out onto the grassy plain, Phasma joining our small team whilst the two Stormtroopers guarded the ship. Our destination was in sight - a large, temple-like building with colourful rags and flags fluttering in the breeze by the entrance.
"Do you always stock up from here?" Kylo asked me quietly - quiet enough so Phasma wouldn't hear.
"About 50% of the time. Maz Katana allows us a rather attractive discount if we trade some valuable items with her. But sometimes we are in need of things she does not posses, so the last 50% is split between specialist suppliers," I explain in a hushed tone. I glance to my right and look up at his helmeted face. He was walking with his head held high; strong purpose and power in his heavy strides. If I didn't know better, I'd say he's done this a thousand times before. He must have felt me staring, for he turned his head down to me.
"What?" he asked, a slight discomfort in his voice.
"Oh nothing," I looked ahead again, "I was just thinking, that even if I fail to train you as is required, you could certainly fool anyone into thinking that you know what you're doing," I felt a hint of a smirk tug at the corners of my lips.
