I woke up in the familiar hunting cabin and was grateful to feel heat on my cheeks but then my body began to ache and sting as if a thousand bees covered my body.

Afraid to move I just stared at the fire as numbness began to consume my mind while the embers twinkled and hypnotized me.

Jolin came in with an armful of wood and snowflakes covering his coat and when he saw me awake he froze and stared at me for a moment before putting the wood on the fire, taking off his coat, and returning to me.

He sat on the floor in front of me and I looked into his eyes and he softly asked, "What happened?" as he pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.

I just stared at him. There was no way he could ever understand and part of me wondered if he would really care and so I didn't say anything but I did see pain grow in Jolin's eyes until I couldn't take it anymore and so I turned my head so I stared at the wall.

For the next week I never spoke to Jolin however Jolin talked and went through every motion as he tried to get me to open up to him.

He would plead and beg at times, other times he would try to be soft and kind and once in a great while, particularly toward the end of the week he would blow up throwing things in anger.

In that week I was able to begin to walk and feed myself and when I looked into the small mirror I found myself a stranger to myself. My cheeks and eyes had sunken in and I looked like a skeleton with discolored skin and countless scars.

My wounds from my lashes had calmed down a lot however it was no gone but it felt better than my cracked ribs.

The day came when Jolin went to hunt for a deer and I was left alone in the cabin when I heard a sound that made my heart drop.

A snowmobile was coming! I quickly went into the mudroom and changed into a pair of tattered overalls and a dirty coat and a pair of Jolin's boots which I remembered being his favorite.

The snowmobile came up to the house and the rider came up and knocked on the door and yelled, "Jolin?"

It was the bastard Levi! What did he want here? Had Jolin told him about me? Was Levi wanting to keep me silent? The panic washed over me and I knew I had to leave and the only way was to steal the snowmobile. No I had never rode one but I did recall seeing Levi driving his to my place and he pulled a button and pulled the cord. I hope I had the energy to pull it.

I snuck out the back door and heard Levi go inside and yell for Jolin before swearing and I took that moment to run to the snowmobile and duck behind it as I studied the machine before pulling up a red button that basically said Start and then I grabbed the handle and began to pull it.

It was a lot harder than I thought it would be and I heard Levi yell from the porch, "HEY!"

This was it! Do or die! I pulled with all I had and ended up falling on the ground but the machine started and so I hurried back on it just before Levi reached me and slammed the throttle down and took off. I nearly fell off on takeoff but was able to stay on by some miracle and I rode all the way into town where I found my car where I had left it which I climbed under to retrieve the spare key I had hidden in a Velcro pouch which also held the key to my apartment which I went straight up to and found destroyed. Everything was trashed and I hoped so badly they had not discovered my guns.

Luck was on my side and the cabinet which appeared like a shelf was on the floor but my guns were there and so I retrieved them and all the ammo and money in the cabinet followed by changing clothes and packing what I could to take with me.

I went back to my car and began to cry as it heated up and it was then that something snapped inside of me. I was done being scared. Never again would I be kidnapped and tortured. Never again would I be raped!

Superman was a myth but this Wonder Woman was not!
