I sit on the chair facing Kevin
“Have you had your lunch yet?” He says with asking eyes.
“I haven’t yet, how about you?” I ask him in return.
“Nope,” he begins and smiles. “Why don’t we just have our lunch here? My treat, Kate…”
My face brightens at the thought, and eventually I agree. “Sure, why not?”
And so we did. He said I can order anything I’d like for lunch, so I chose broccoli, two bacon and some toasted bread slices with cold lemonade as beverage. He chose the same meal and the same beverage as well, which makes me feel “inspired” to know that there’s also someone who bears with my taste, and that’s Kevin.
After our lunch, Saab takes the utensils we used in the dishes tray, cleans our table, and leaves us. Then, from my small shoulder bag, I get my checklist.
“Here are what I have to buy…” I begin. “One black robe, one ash white wig, five pairs of long crooked nails, face prosthetics, and an apple which has a green side.”
“Is that all?” he asks.
“No.”
“Then what else?”
“I also need the creepy-looking slippers, fake cobwebs and spiders, and my big jar filled with potions and poisons!” I say, pouting. Then he bursts out laughing, which is very natural. It’s cute of him to do as well. Sssssh!
“Then let’s go to the costume shop…” He answers, and our shopping begins.
We go to the nearby mall, and enter the only costume shop, walking. Well, along the way is not boring, it has a fair and lively mood which is driven by conversations, but sometimes he pisses me off with his “way” with words so I stare at him badly, then he would pinch my nose or my cheek, and I would tickle him on his waists, as I always do, and we would be running around like cat and mouse, and then where would we be?
Inside the costume shop, I go first to the cloaks and robes area. There are many colors: red, violet, white, blue and many others with weird designs. But I don’t need those; I need a plain black one. I fondle and fondle until I see what I need. It’s only one, and when I tried it, it fits me. It’s a little bigger, though. But didn’t the witch in Snow White have a hump back? I guess the allowance is for the real fit.
I show myself to Kevin as I’m still slipped into the plain black robe.
“How do I look like?” I say, turning for him to see me fully.
“You don’t look like a witch, Kate. You look like a black nun!” And then he laughs. I just flash him a deadly glare and I take the robe off my clothes. I’m taking it anyway.
Then I proceed. Finding and purchasing the rest of the materials – well, excluding the apple and big jar. We bought the fake cobwebs and spiders and creepy-looking slippers in the neighboring cosplay shop, since the costume shop don’t have those.
Well, while we are looking for the apple and the big jar, touring around the mall as well, Kevin volunteered to bring all of what I bought. Well, all is in a regular-sized thick carton bag only served by the cosplay shop and is not so heavy. Even I, alone can bring those. Those are just props anyway.
