Please don't kill me.😸

This chapter is gonna be in third person POV so don't be surprised when you start reading it. You'll see me doing this for some of the other chapters to come.

A week had went by since the date and Raine and Jayquan had gotten really close. It was expected because she had definitely agreed to be his girlfriend. She found him to be different from the other guys, he was sweet, kind and most of all didn't take shit from anybody. He could stand up for himself and she liked that about him.

Right now she was sitting in last period waiting for the bell to ring. Between school and work her life was a bit hectic so at the moment she was hardly finding time to spend with Jayquan but he didn't mind. In fact he was taking her to see a movie right after this, he didn't come to school today because he told her he had some business to take care of, she didn't question it and he didn't elaborate.

The bell had just rung and she got up putting her books into her bag. She walked out of the classroom only to see Brittney and her minions pushing on a girl near her locker.

Please help me God. She thought to herself. Taking a deep breathe she walked towards the girls not paying them any mind.

When they started to really push and pull the girl around it was like something snapped inside her. Raine turned towards them and watched as the light skinned girl who was wearing glasses get beat up.

"Hey! Why don't you pick on somebody your own size?"

All heads turned towards her except for the girl who was cowering on the floor.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Ms. Steal-your-man." Raine rolled her eyes at Brittney. Was that supposed to make her feel any way, nobody stole anything from her. Brittney was just a dumb broad trying to cause trouble for good people.

"Leave the girl alone Brittney." Jade folded her hands across her chest and gave the girls a blank look.

"Why don't you mind your own business Raine?" she yelled. Her outburst was causing people passing by to stop and stare. However, Raine was in no mood for Brittney's bullshit.

"When I see you messing with innocent people, it is my business." Raine bent down and grabbed the hand of the girl who was still sitting on the floor. "What's your name sweety?"

The girl only looked down at the floor and hid behind the curtain of her long black hair. She didn't say anything and looked like she wasn't going to.

"Why are you always ruining things for me Raine?" Brittney shouted stepping a bit closer into her personal space. This caused Raine's body to go tense. Lifting her head Raine gave her the meanest mug ever.

"Why dontchu just go on ahead an' take a step back."

She could see the hesitation in Brittney's body language. Before, she looked like she was gonna try something but seeing the look on Raine's face now, she took a step back while huffing. She turned to walk away and motioned her friends to follow.

"I'm gonna get you for this one of these days Raine, you wait and see." Brittney said as she walked off.

"Hey, you alrite?" Raine turned to the girl that had now gotten up off the floor.

"I'm okay." The girl mumbled.

"You shouldn't let them push you around like that. What's your name anyways?"

Raine finally took a good look at the girl standing beside her. She was wearing a baby blue long sleeved shirt, some dark washed jeans and a pair of old blue and white tennis shoes. She had her head down so Raine couldn't really see her face and all that hair in the way wasn't helping either.

Just by the way the girl held her head down and her body posture Raine could tell that she was beyond shy and...weak. If there was one thing she hated it was weak girls, people should be able to stand up for themselves. But if there weren't any weak people there wouldn't be any place for the strong.

"Lift your head up and answer me." Raine spoke sternly and girl's head snapped upwards upon hearing her voice.

Raine came face to face with dark hazel eyes that had so many negative emotions swirling in them. The ones that stood out the most to her were fear and uncertainty. Here she was protecting the girl from bullies when she sounded just like one a few minutes ago. She was probably scaring the girl half to death.

Softening her features, Raine put on a small smile. She visibly saw the girl's body relax slightly as she gave Raine a once over, uncertainty still shadowing her eyes.

"I'm sorry if I scared you, I was kinda still angry from talking to those girls a while ago." Said Raine trying to ease the girls uneasiness.

"It's okay I'm used to it." Raine bristled. No one should ever get used to being bullied like that.

"My name's Charlie by the way."

Trying to get rid of the anger and irritation Raine clenched her teeth and forced a smile unto her face.

"Well I'm Raine and it's nice to meet you." Raine extended a hand and the girl shyly shook it.

"Nice to meet you too." The smiled for the first time and Raine couldn't help but notice how pretty it made her look.

"You should smile more often, it suits you." Charlie's face turned a bright shade of pink making Raine laugh.

"I've never seen you around here before, are you new?" Asked Raine.

Charlie nodded.

"Me and my dad just moved here from DC."

"Oh cool, where you staying?" Raine had put all her things in her locker and taken out her bag, swinging it over her shoulder.

"On Kensington Avenue." Charlie had also gotten her bag out of her locker.

"Really, that's where I live too. What lot number is your house?" Raine knew the girl was new but she didn't think she lived near to her.

"It's um... 20116."

"That's only three blocks down from my house. Maybe I'll see you around sometime." The girl only nodded.

"Well, I gotta go. See you later."

"Bye." Charlie whispered at Raine's retreating back.

As Raine opened the school doors and walked outside a smile crept on to her face. Somehow, deep down she felt glad that she had helped the girl and knew that with time they would probably become the best of friends.
