Raine's POV

I was in my room getting ready for when Jayquan would come pick me up. It was still a bit early so I wasn't really rushing.

"Mom!"

"Yea sweety!" My mom hollered back at me, she was downstairs but with my loud mouth she could hear me from upstairs.

"I'm going out tonight!" I put in some stud earrings and grabbed my purse then went downstairs. I heard my mom in the kitchen so went in that direction.

"Ooh, are you going on a date?" She asked excitedly when she saw me come in.

I blushed a hundred shades of red when she asked me that.

"Um, something like that." I was wearing a black ripped jeans shorts and a white T-shirt with 'dope' written in bold black letters across it.

"So it is a date. Is it with that Jayquan guy I met the other day?"

"Yep, he's taking me to see a movie." I fiddled with my hair as I finally took a good look at my mom. I didn't notice it when I walked in but now I realized she was dressed up as if she was going on a date. Tilting an eyebrow upwards I looked at her skeptically.

"And where are you going, looking like that?"

It was her turn to blush. She stopped putting the groceries away and tried hiding behind the curtain of her hair.

"Oh no you don't, you're telling me where you're going right now." I walked around to her side of the kitchen island and blocked her so she wouldn't try  and evade my question by running.

As I looked at how shy she was acting I couldn't hide the smile that was threatening to crawl on my face any longer.

"You're going on a date?" It was a question but it sounded more like a statement because I knew what I said was true, my mom was going on a date after almost three years or was it longer.

"Yes, I am." Her face lit up with a smile as she beamed at me.

I squealed while jumping up and down.

"Why didn't you tell me?!" We were both screaming now.

"Because I thought you wouldn't agree."

"You thought I wouldn't agree?" I asked her incredulously. "Mom I would never do that to you. You deserve to be happy, that's all I've ever wanted for you."

Just as I said that the doorbell rang.

"Ooh, that's probably Jayquan." I kissed my mom on the cheek and grabbed my purse that I had placed on the island. I quickly made my way to the door and my my, could you believe what I saw when I opened it. Standing in front of my doorstep, decked out to kill and holding a bouquet of flowers, was no one other than my boss.

"Raine? What are you doing here?" He had a look of confusion all over his face.

"I should be asking you the same thing Jo, I live here."

"What?!" I was so surprised but not as much as Jo, he looked as if he was about to die from the way he's sweating.

"Mama! Your date's here." I hollered behind me.

"Tell him I'll be there in a second." My mom said back.

I didn't bother telling Big Jo because I knew he heard her for himself. We stared at each other for a second not knowing what to say to each other until I broke the very awkward silence.
