Caleb Seraphim

I rocked the recliner back and forth as I watched Leila fall asleep peacefully in my arms. This is where she belonged.
I should've stayed in Westward, I could've been with her from a distance for nineteen years. I brushed a strand of her beautiful brown hair behind her ear.

"It's rude to break into people's homes." I speak looking up. Isadora stepped out of the shadows. "I'm protecting her...I'm making sure you don't do anything stupid." She snapped. I rolled my eyes and looked at Leila again. I smiled, content.

"She's your boundment, isn't she?" She seemed unpleased at her own question. I didn't say a word back to her. "You won't be any good for her Seraphim, You're better off breaking the bounds." She stated simply causing me to glare at her. "I'm not breaking anything, you don't know what I will be for her." I could practically feel the anger rising inside me.

"And if I was bad for her, then you'd have to stop communicating with her as well. We aren't any different." The words seem to seethe out of me. How dare she accuse such false accusations.

"You're wrong Seraphim. The difference between you and I, is that I have my soul, you don't." She took a step forward. Leila started to stir in her sleep and I looked up at Isadora again.

"We're still demons, regardless." I stand up holding Leila closer to me. "Watch yourself." Was the last thing she said as she seemed to disappear instantly. I walked into Leila's bedroom and gently placed her on her bed. I pulled the blankets over her. I stood there for a few seconds.

There was no way what Isadora said could be anywhere near the possible truth. I turned on my feet and ran towards the front door. I reached for the door knob when I stopped myself.
She couldn't be right. I shook my head trying not to think of her words. I opened the door and shut it behind me.

I ran away from the apartment complex. I climbed into my car and layed my head against the seat. licking my dry lips I could feel the thirst forming inside me. I started my car and pulled out of the parking garage fast.

When I neared the forest, I slammed on the breaks causing the tires to squeal. I turned off the car and jumped out.

Leila Oskar

I tipped the water bottle back and downed the two Motrin B pills I had. As if this headache would ever subside. I layed my head down on the teacher desk of mine. I was extremely grateful the kids had gone out for recess by now. Mrs. Rangel was out there watching them along with other teachers.

I groaned in defeat. I haven't seen or heard from Caleb since our date two days ago. I awoke in my bed so I can only assume he put me there. I wondered when I have the opportunity to see him again. I heard a small knock at the classroom door. I rolled my eyes and pushed back away from the desk. I stood up and brushed my skirt down a bit. I walked over to the door and opened it.

"Izzy?" I titled my head; confused. She was dressed in a pantsuit and handed me a small bag and a cup of coffee. "I figured you might like something to eat." She smiled happily. "Uh thanks." I grabbed the items from her and placed them on my desk.

"What are you doing here?" I asked taking a small sip of the coffee. "I'm the librarian here actually. I heard in the office that we had a new assistant teacher named Miss. Oskar, and girl I knew it was you!" She laughed. I shook my head and laughed.  She finally stepped into the classroom shutting the door behind her. "How was the date?" She seemed rather so much interested as she waited for me to speak.

"It was good. I enjoyed it. He took me to the park and then we got take out. Went back to my place and watched a movie till I fell asleep." I told her as I took the small bagel out of the white bag she had given me. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Is there gonna be any more dates?" She wiggles her eyebrows playfully. I rolled my eyes and giggled.
"Possibly. Who knows?" I took a bite out of my bagel.
