I pushed open the door to his hospital room. He was lying on the bed, IV drip in his wrist, face pale, hair limp, eyes hollow, he looked empty. As if a part of him had been torn away.
"Raven?" He said quietly, trying to sit up.
"No. Lie back down." I rushed over to him and knelt by his bed. He lay back down grimacing and looked at me.
"I'm so glad you're ok."
"It's only because of you. You carried me for hours, without water, food, sleep. Just constant walking. Then you found a cure. A cure Sin. You've saved the human race. You've saved everything." I took his hand in mine. "You saved everyone but yourself."
"It was worth it."
"No. Id rather have you and a broken world, then a perfect world without you." He squeezed my hand.
"Don't say that. You are safe, and that is all that matters."
"No." I shook my head, tears flowing. "Don't leave me. Please stay. The antidote will work. It's just taking its time."
"Face it Raven, I'm a goner. I know its hard. The antidote is going to save me from changing into a Partial. That's it. It can't help the blood loss" He looked so tired. His eyes were slipping open and closed.
"Ill find you a doner. And if i cant you can have my blood."
"I've lost too much."
"Sin. Don't you give up on me. Please stay." I had to try not to think. To not think about everything that has happened between us, think how he had changed me so much, and try not to wonder how I have come to love him so much, so deeply, that it hurts to imagine life without him. Like it physically hurts.
"I can't. I love you Raven." I burst into sobs.
"I love you too." He squeezed my hand. For the last time. His eyes closed. For the last time. He let out a sigh. A last breath. The heart monitor flatlined and the room filled with a long, flat beeping. I stood up from the bed and ran to the door. I swung the door open "nurse!" I yelled out "nurse! Help! Nurse!" Two nurses and a doctor pushed past me, and ran into the room. I went to run after them but two arms wrapped around my waist pulling me back.
"Clear!" A female voice yelled. Everyone stepped away from his boy. There was a loud zap. I saw Sins body jolt upright viciously. Still the flat beeping. A nurse shut the door. I couldn't see anymore. I spun around and smacked viciously on my dads chest.
"Let me go! I have to help him!"
"It's too late!" I knew he was right. I buried my face into his chest and sobbed. Screw my pride. If he was going to ever see my cry, this was the time.
