CHAPTER 7: Ghost Town

Machi's PoV
"THE DEATH GIRL! THE DEATH GIRL IS BACK!!!"
"SHE'S HERE!!!"
"HIDE YOUR CHILDREN!!!"
"LOCK YOUR DOORS!!!"

Every scream is like stabbing my heart with a million of spears and daggers. I took my first step out of the abandoned entry and the town went empty in just seconds
"C-come on! Let's hang out!" He said trying to cheer me up
We walked side-by-side...it was silent though
"Hey...uh...Machi.........where are your parents?"
Did he really just have to ask that? I stayed quiet ignoring his question. I don't want to talk about them

Shin's PoV
I see she doesn't plan on replying. I saw a terrified old man that dropped his keys somewhere, which I think is the reason why he's outside frustrated and scared...I went to him, Machi was still taking baby steps
"Hey pops!"
"Oh goodness gracious! You almost gave me a heart attack young boy...w-what do you want...? A-a-a-and w-why are you with her!?" He pointed out at Machi who stopped in front of a closed shop
"It's a long story pops...but do you know what happened to her parents?"
"Everyone knows what happened to them...they collapsed last December 13th we currently know that they're still in a coma. We don't know the full detail but it was just sudden, they say that they wouldn't be able to make it throughout this year"
"Is that so..."
"Machi may be dangerous and all...but I feel bad for her if she loses her parents, the kid will be an orphan...all kids deserve to be loved...even Machi...but it's just hard if you can't even go near her"

I looked back then thanked the old man. I'm settled, my first priority is to introduce 'hope' to Machi...I'll probably tell about her parents when the time is right, it may just add depression to her which would make her condition worse...right now, I need to cheer her up...it may be impossible for a desperate girl like her, but all we need is time...she'll learn how to smile
We stopped at an empty park...this used to be crowded in Saturdays...even I got dejected, Machi's getting more depressed...I need to look for something-AHA!
I chased a white bunny and carefully picked it up then injected it with the serum that Ma'am Tsuyo gave me; so it won't sense death from Machi
"Look what I found! A lost bunny!"
Machi looked at me for a moment then suddenly went eerie again
"So...what...?" She said a little bit rude
"You can pet him if you want" I offered
"Yeah, like I can-"

I moved the bunny to her hands and she almost dropped it out of shock. Her eyes widened. She gently brushed the bunny's clean white fur, her eyes were sparkling and her cheeks were glowing. The bunny crept more into her; it's like loving her presence
"It likes you..."
I saw her smirk and it gets wider and wider until she's finally smiling
The bunny started to snuggle and show love
"Hey...*giggles*...cut it out...it tickles...hahaha..."
I feel so...so warm...right now...I never felt this kind of feeling before...it makes me so alive...I had another idea and grabbed my phone
"Aaand...click!"
The bunny ran away out of Machi's hands, she looked at me
"D-did I do something wrong...?"
"You just took a picture of me, didn't you?"
"Uh...yeah..."
"Don't do that again" She said then exited the park just like nothing happened

'It was just a picture...she didn't even thank me for the bunny...'
I followed behind her then she suddenly went to a stop
"Is there something wrong?"
"It's getting dark now...I need to go back...it's enough going out for today" She turned around then walked the direction back
"Wait! Hey, wait up!"
"What now?"
"I can't let you back there.........you're staying with me..."
"What if I don't want to?"
I shoved slid a Pocky stick in her mouth and gave her a box of it...She ate the Pocky that was in her mouth and seemed to have liked it
"There's more where that came from"
"...You're lucky these things taste great..."
'It's just a stick of biscuit covered in chocolate...but, nothing beats it'
