Chapter Two: Meetings and More

Hux didn't get a good night's rest. The events of the early morning kept him up. Images of Kylo Ren would appear every time he closed his eyes.

Oh, my goodness...

General Hux never expected to be so captivated by anyone, let alone Kylo Ren. Something about the man fascinated Hux; behind the imposed power, experimental temper, and sexy darkness, there had to be something hiding.

Oh, shit. Hux widened his eyes. I just called him sexy.

That was it.

Hux was way too tired to deal with anything like this. He decided to put it off until the morning, which was already full of budgeting. Hux sighed.

Maybe it won't be so bad. Hell, if anything, I'll be able to see Kylo.

On the contrary, Kylo Ren didn't sleep. He punched a bag for an hour after Hux left, then went back to his room for a shower and some water. After that was taken care of, he laid on his back, thinking of Hux.

Why can't I stop thinking of him?

He rolled on his side. When that didn't work, he tried the other side.

By morning, he was just about ready to sleep.

A built in alarm went off, designed to keep The First Order on schedule, but it only ended up making everyone annoyed. Kylo Ren was fairly used to it. The being annoyed part, that is.

He walked to the mirror, fixing his clothes and hair. No matter how many times he wore the helmet, Kylo Ren would always make sure his hair was perfect before putting it on. Finally, when he finished putting on everything, he walked out of the door.

First thing: budgeting.

Kylo took a deep sigh. Math was never his big strong suit, but then again, he didn't know anyone whose it was. He trudged onward.

As he was walking into the conference room, his spirits were suddenly lifted. Who knew that General Hux would be seated right across from the only other available seat? As he sat, he gave a quick nod to Hux, and the meeting started up.

The words of some boring Assistant Financial Advisor droned on. While Hux was taking down a few notes, Kylo would look at him, and take in his features.

General Hux tended to raise his eyebrows when listening to someone, showing a sign of false interest that wasn't shown when commanding. When he caught a problem, he furrowed his brows at his notes, and stuck his lower lip out a little further while thinking it through.

It truly was refreshing to Kylo Ren.

Finally, the assistant sat down. Questions were tossed around. Some form of plan was made for the future, which would impact everyone, yet Kylo Ren still didn't care. Then, people got up.

Kylo Ren stood behind his chair, politely waiting to leave, while internally resisting the urge to yell at people to hurry up. Finally, he was given some space to walk between one of the head chefs and Captain Phasma.

The meeting was over, and people had other places to be. Kylo Ren started turning, and General Hux came up behind him.

"You know, even with that mask, it's easy to tell what your'e looking at."

Before he could respond, the general was gone. Kylo Ren sighed, again, and trudged onward to his next meeting.

As he neared the door, a loud alarm went off.  It was General Hux's devision. Kylo Ren hoped it was nothing too serious, since he still needed to properly talk to him.

As some other voice droned on, he wished he had some sleep.

"Kylo Ren!"

He turned around. And there, briskly walking towards him, was Hux. Kylo let out a little sigh

Hux took a deep breath. There was something eating away at him that he had to tell Kylo. Finally he caught up with the man.

"Um, do you mind if we talk somewhere a little more private? I have something to tell you."

Kylo Ren was taken back. What's up with him? As Hux lead them to the nearest empty room, he couldn't help but survey the general. Hux hadn't made eye contact with Kylo, and was standing farther away than usual.

I wonder what's wrong.

Finally, they were alone, and the two stopped walking. Even in the small room, Hux was feet away from Kylo Ren, and still refused eye contact.

"You wanted a word with me?"

"Um, yes. I- well, what I'm trying to say is-"

Kylo Ren sighed. Hux had never acted this nervous in front of him, even back before the rally. As he removed his mask, and his voice changed back to normal, he spoke up. "Look, General, I know you're nervous. Just go ahead and say whatever is on your mind."

Hux took a deep breath, looking up at the man. He had a little more confidence than before.

"I'm really confused, Kylo, and I need some help."
