Toriel held out her hand, "come, I will guide you through the catacombs!"
"Uh...." Miranda looked at her hand, removed her own from the pocket, and slung the hood of her jacket up over her head, and then forced her hand back in her pocket, "l-lead on..."
Miranda was visibly frightened by Toriel, but could tell she wasn't too much of a threat. But someone who wasn't six feet could be scared of someone who was, no matter how sweet they are.
"There's no need to be frightened, my child! I am not here to harm you!"
Miranda's heart sank as she remembered her beloved mother and brother, she raised her shoulders and slouched her head, as if to hide.
Toriel knelt next to her, "are you ok?"
Miranda bit the inside of her lip a she swallowed tears, "I'm fine..."
Toriel, not caring how she would react, hugged the teen girl.
Miranda stopped, wanting her to let go, but then realized how similar this hug was to her mother's.
"I'm...." Miranda quivered, "F-fine...."
She hugged Toriel tight and began to cry, but it wasn't loud. Miranda doesn't cry loudly, it's very silent, but very messy.
"I want to go home..." she whispered.
Toriel, being very strong, picked up Miranda and began the walk to her home. She held Miranda like a toddler all the way there. Miranda fought off sleep in her arms, but failed, and ended up snuggling the cheek of her newfound goat mom.
