Andromeda caught up to Octavia quickly, "Octavia stop!" she shouted at the girl. But she didn't slow down. "For fuck's sake stop!" Octavia rounded on Andromeda with a furious look on her face.
"What?"
Andromeda breathed heavily, "I get that your pissed and I know you're hurt but you're being stupid just running off into the forest."
"First I have Bellamy telling me what to do, now you," she said storming off again.
"Don't compare me to him," Andromeda complained jogging to catch up.
"I'm fine on my own. I don't need you," Octavia called back to her.
"Sure you don't. Listen..." Andromeda chided but was cut off by the sound of a twig snapping. She lunged forward and grabbed Octavia's hand to bring her to a stop.
"What now?" Octavia complained.
Andromeda shoved her hand over the girl's mouth. Andromeda closed her eyes and listened for another sound. Birds flapped away in the distance. The twigs snapped again to their right and Andromeda snapped her eyes open to look at Octavia.
"Run."
Both girls took off into a dead sprint. Octavia lead the way and Andromeda trailed behind frequently looking back for pursuers. Branches snapped at her face and Andromeda felt the flesh being ripped open on her hands and cheeks as they raced through the underbrush. They broke through the trees and where Octavia was standing one second, there was nothing but air.
"OCTAVIA!" Andromeda shouted.
She stopped in the clearing and saw a steep hill and at the bottom, an unmoving Octavia.
"Fuck," she whispered at the sight of the girl. Carefully, Andromeda slid down the hill on her ass but half way down she slipped and flipped. She rolled down the hill and caught a rock in the side of the stomach. She cried out and landed at the bottom of the hill after rolling over her unconscious friend.
Andromeda stood up slowly, being careful of her side. She looked at the top of the ridge for what made the noise but nothing came for a solid ten minutes. Once she felt safe enough, she crouched down to Octavia's head but doubled over in pain at the cut on her side. She looked at it and whatever rock she had hit, had shredded her jacket and left a six-inch long cut on her side. Blood slowly seeped from the wound. She looked back to Octavia and saw a large gash on her head. Carefully, she rolled the girl over onto her back and took in her injuries. She had the blow to her head and a massive chunk taken out of her leg from the fall.
"I can't leave you here, dammit," Andromeda complained.
She sat down next to the girl and leaned her back against the hill. Gently, she picked Octavia's shoulders up and rested the girl's head on her lap to keep her head wound elevated. Hopefully, she thought, this would prevent swelling in the brain. The last thing she needed was a concussion. So Andromeda decided to wait until she woke up on her own as to not risk furthering the injury.
Hours dragged on and Andromeda found herself extremely bored. Once she was sure Octavia wasn't going to die, she shifted the girl to lean against the hill next to her to wake up. Andromeda had stayed silent and braided her own hair four different times in four different styles. She tore out two piles of grass and had stooped to throw nearby rocks at a tree nearby.
"Next time you decide to have a temper tantrum, can you at least do it somewhere where interesting," she said to the unconscious girl.
She leaned her head back against the dirt and felt it shift under her hair. Some fell from the hill and unfortunately landed in Octavia's cut.
"Shit. Well, I've got nothing to clean the cut with." Her head injury had stopped bleeding but her leg still occasionally spurted blood.
Andromeda's stiffness was in part due to the wadded up jacket she held to her side. The cut to her stomach had not stopped bleeding and she was started to feel tired. She knew that she couldn't go to sleep. If she did, she was afraid she wouldn't wake up.
The sun had set by now and Andromeda sat there gazing at the stars. They were so different than on the Ark. Down here, they were pure, perfect. There was no glare to interrupt their shine and only the natural light of their brightness guided the way.
Suddenly, a boom interrupted the silence. The brightness of the stars was outshone and could no longer be seen. Andromeda stood up to get a better look at what was going on. Permeating the sky were purple flares. They slowly soared across the sky leaving a purple trail in their wake.
"Ah..."
Andromeda quickly turned around and saw Octavia struggling to sit up.
"Easy there, you've been gone all day," Andromeda crouched down to her level.
"Look out," Octavia weakly mumbled.
Andromeda felt a pain the back of her head and then felt no more.
A/N: Sorry for the short chapter. There was really nothing that I could do. A little treat for you guys though, about half of the next episode is from Bellamy's POV!
