Night rolled in and the basement became very dark. It always got really dark at night because the only windows were high up on the ceiling and there was only a small bedside lamp for light during the day.

I don’t know what it was about tonight. I couldn’t sleep. I had tossed and turned since the dark rolled in but that was hours ago. I just had this feeling. This bad feeling that said I shouldn’t go to sleep.

I sighed and sat up against my headboard. I was getting tired of lying down.

The house was silent. A sure sign that Harry was sleeping.

Harry was sleeping.

This could be it. This could be my chance to escape!

I threw the covers off me and quietly but quickly padded over to the stairs. I ascended slowly as to not make them creak.

I twisted the door handle. Shit. It was locked. Figures.

“Fuck,” I cursed. I leaned my head against the cold wood, trying to clear my senses. I wanted to go home so badly.

I heard footsteps on the other side of the door. Shit. Harry must have heard me! I bolted down the stairs and ran into the bedroom. I jumped into the bed and pretended to be sleeping.

The footsteps sounded down the stairs and across the room towards the small bedroom. I tried to slow my racing pulse but it was to no avail. What would Harry do?

I could sense him standing right above me now, leaning over the bed.

“Come on, Lou. I know you’re not sleeping.” He said. But it wasn’t Harry. The voice that spoke made my body freeze down to the bone. The last time that voice had spoken was when the person it belonged to had said they wanted to kill me.

I slowly opened my eyes, my terrified blue orbs met malicious brown ones as Liam stared back at me.

“Hey,” He said, grinning.

I threw the blankets off me and tried to bolt for the door. But a hand clamped down on my shoulder pulling me back. Two hands gripped my arms and shoved my back into the wall behind me.

I yelled out in pain as pain shot through my shoulder blades.

“Shut it!” Liam growled and his fist collided with my cheek.

“Harr—“ I tried to call out but my voice was cut off when Liam’s hands wrapped around my throat. My air supply was cut off from my lungs and I began to feel the burn in my chest.

My feeble fingers tried to pry Liam’s hands from my throat but he was too strong and I was getting weaker by the second.

“I told you, you are too much of a risk to me,” He said, calmly. “Harry didn’t do anything about so I guess that makes you my responsibility. “

I made another choking noise. My head was starting to feel light.

“Like I said, I don’t mind the whole shooting on my head but I don’t need kidnapping,” He said. “You see it was just supposed to be a small trip to my ex-girlfriend. I mean, I got her of course, and she got what she deserved. And once I’m done with you, my slate will be clean.”
