I woke up happy and content. I had had a nice dreamless sleep during the night and I felt pretty good. I had no desire to get out of bed at all.
I went to shift around on the mattress but I quickly realized it wasn't a mattress that I was lying on. It was something warm and solid.
I shifted my head to examine what it was. Dark, messy curls and soft green eyes met my vision and a smile I couldn't suppress, spread across my face.
"Hey," Harry said sleepily.
"Hi," I whispered looking down at my fingers which rested on his chest. His arm was still snaked tightly about my waist.
"You look like you slept well," He commented. His voice was thick with sleep still and it made him sound quite attractive.
Whoa there Louis where did that come from?
I shook my head and looked up to meet his eyes again. His left eye, as I had predicted, was purple around the sides and so was the top of his cheek below that same eye.
"I did," I answered and I reached out to brush his tousled curls off his forehead to examine his face more.
The bruises would need ice if he wanted the swelling to go down.
"You need to put ice on that," I said nodding to the darkening skin.
He reached out to touch the spot I nodded to and he winced when his fingers brushed over it.
"Yeah, erm, I'll go do that, Lou, thanks." He said.
He sat up and removed the arm that was previously around me. I missed his warmth immediately as soon as he stood up.
"Thanks Lou," Harry told me with a small smile before continuing over to the stairs. I didn’t want him to go though. I wanted him to stay. I was sick of being alone in this godforsaken basement.
"You're gonna come back right?" I asked in a small voice. The old Harry, the soft and sweet one I had known, had shown itself last night and the soft green eyes never left my mind. I wanted him to stay. That side of him was comforting, reminding me of before all this happened. But I asked tentatively because I knew that even though the Harry I knew was there inside, the cold and hard Harry could rear its scary head any time.
However, despite my concerns, Harry's face broke into a big smile that had his dimples popping out.
"Of course I'll come back," He said. Then we turned to climb quickly up the stairs and step quickly out the door.
I sat and waited on my bed for about five minutes, twiddling my thumbs, before I heard footsteps clomping down the stairs again.
My heart started beating fast in my chest as my eyes rake over his disheveled form. His hair was all tousled and he had on a new shirt. An ice pack was gripped firmly in his hand.
He sent that 100 kilowatt smile at me and I felt my heart flutter. I didn't know why I was feeling this way all of a sudden but the feelings were too strong to try to stop. So I gave in and let a small blush heat up my cheeks as I looked down.
