The Chocolate Lovers

This was supposed to be the best day ever.

Starting school is a thing I usually like, and it was going to be the greatest semester ever now that my friend Antonio is coming to my school too! Ah, that gorgeous guy so cute you can’t help but fall for… Athletic, smart and a chocolate lover! What else would a girl want? Moreover, his tanned skin was carved by God himself, making his body real built and perfectly matching for a petite girl like me. Everyone says we look cute together and I totally agree, except for the fact that… well, we’ve never been in a romantic relationship. Ever.

In addition, well… it would be awkward, since he is my neighbour too. But he is gorgeous! And so kind and goodhearted… or maybe I’m too in love. Anyways, the perfect day became the worst on our way to the cinemas, like every Friday afternoon.

Antonio is very handsome, so I’m used of girls looking at him. Let me remark that being used is not the same as being comfortable with that, and the worst is that he knows it kind of pulls me off whenever a cute girls pass and tries to hit on him and he responds them with a simple smile. Oh, that smile that melts me… Err… Anyhow, our date started good, like always, except for the fact that there was one of those girls trying to catch his attention. This was a brunette, olive skinned, tall and somewhat beautiful girl. I think I’ve seen her face before, and that’s what caught my attention. My stare was what caught his attention.

“Uh… what are you looking at, Riley?” he asks me following my gaze and letting a ‘huh’ come out of his mouth, jumping a little.

“I think I know her but I can’t remember where…” I explain myself, crossing my arms in front of me.

Antonio simply stares at her, letting his jaws drop open. He’s really inspecting every detail on her, so I try to do that too. She’s really thin, like a noodle. Her long black hair curls on the tips around her shoulders and she wears a nice casual black top along with some light gray skinny jeans and high heel boots. I find it very unattractive, but apparently, Antonio differs.

“What a girl” he lets go, offending me.

“Yeah?” I say, raising my eyebrows “well I’ve seen better”

Antonio chuckles. He knows I’m jealous.

“Hey, you’re still my favourite girl” he jokes in a British accent. I can’t help but laugh.

We continue our way calmly, except for the fact that the girl is on her way to the cinemas too. I don’t like it… and I suspect Antonio does. Nevertheless, he’s with me and not with her. Poor girl with no luck, I let my mind think and smile for myself. Antonio chuckles once again after seeing me and I blush.

Waiting in the line is definitely no big deal, at least in every other day, but it bothers me that the girl is still in our vision panorama, right in front of us. And she’s beginning to take notice of that. Of course, it’s her chance.

“Uh… hi” she comes near us, only crossing gazes between Antonio and her, completely ignoring me. “What time is it?” she asks, pointing at Antonio’s watch on his right hand. It was a gift from his father from last Christmas and I knew it because every year he had a new watch to wear, courtesy of his dad’s company.

“Five thirty” he replies, a little too slow. I can’t help but raise an eyebrow in astonishment.

“Oh, thanks” she says. Then she opens her hand in front of him, offering it to him to shake it. “I’m Lea”

“Antonio. And this is Riley” he says pointing me out. For the first very time she realizes of my existence, thanks, and now I remember her: Lea Thompson, my worst enemy since I was six.
