Tainted

_Joshua's POV_

Sitting in my office it was just like any other day.

No neighboring packs attacking. No alliances needing to be made. No rouges for miles of my territory--

And No Luna.

Twenty-Four years old and still no mate.

Still no Luna.

My pack has managed to survive without a Luna for all these years and until she shows herself and becomes my mate, my pack will continue to thrive without a Luna.

I better stop getting my hopes up.

For my packs sake, and my own.

Turning my seat away from the window, I turned towards the door.

Three. . .

Two. . .

One. . .

"Alpha!"

The door swung open harshly to reveal my Beta, Jeremy.

"Yes?", I questioned as I stood up from my chair and walked over to him.

Jeremy opened the door to allow me through.

Once I stepped through he closed it behind me, raising a solemn hand, he started to walk away, Signalling for me to follow him.

I ignored his disrespectful behavior towards me and followed him until we were out of the pack-house.

He led me to the edge of our territory before he finally spoke.

"Two of our guards were attacked here, by tainted rouges."

I nodded and bent down to inspect the little puddle of blood that graced the soggy soil. Dipping my finger in the blood, I brought it towards my face and sniffed it.

Sure enough, It was from a tainted rouge.

Sighing, I wiped the blood on my jeans and stood up.

"Get Delta Alman to watch the pack while you, Joey, and I patrol the territory."

Jeremy nodded and his blue eyes covered with a dark grey, telling me he was in a link.

--

"Joshua! Why couldn't you get Alman to come and patrol!", Joey yelled as he stomped his foot on the ground like a child throwing a tantrum.

I shrugged, "You have absolutely no experience in running a pack and your my third-in-command, that's why."

Jeremy nodded in approval, "He's right. Your also the one in charge of protecting the pack, so take responsibility of your job for once, Joey."

Joey grunted and stayed silent, the two guards behind him waiting for orders.

I nodded, "Alright, let's go. The sooner this is done the faster Joey gets to go back to doing whatever he was doing."
