Chp.4 Phoenix

I enter the room Xalanth led me too, a woman was there. She told me she'd take my cloths and wash them for me while I bathed.
I looked at the dress from last night, it was orange and sparkled, it originally flowed down to the floor, but after I ran through the woods it was mid thigh. It had holes and tarred to were you could hardly recognize it was a performance dress. The dress didn't sparkle anymore either, it had food and drink stains all over it.
"Or I could get you some new clothes?" She offers.
I nod and she quickly leaves.
I look to a the tub with bubbles and warm water oozing out of it. I've never seen a tub like this. I quickly stripe off my clothes and jumped in the bath.
So warm!!!
I watch as the filth washes off of me, scrubbing off every inch of filth. I feel like the life I fled from is washing away. Like I'm born a new or something.
This really is a new life for me.
Suddenly I hear a voice from outside the room, it's the woman who went to get me clothes.
She's back already?
"Let me see the wolf."
"But my lady, the prince has said that she-"
"Are you deifying me!"
"No my lady never! But she is bathing right now."
"That dog is in my bathroom?!"
A lady bursts open the door, her face fuming with rage.
I scream for I truly believe this lady will kill me.
"What the hell is slime like you doing in dragon kingdom?!" She roars. "Get out."
But I'm naked.
"Get out before I ripe you in half!"
She grabs a stool with papers on it and aims it at the tub. She barely misses my head. I quickly jump out of the tub, naked or not I'm not letting this psycho throw shit at me!
I scream again as she throws another object at me.
"Don't worry Melody I'm coming!"
Oh few Xalanth is coming. But until then-
"You dare to come our kingdom and wash your filth in my bathroom! The nerve!"
She grabs a the tub and raises it above her head, not caring that it's still full of water. As the water and soap spill onto the floor, she looses her footing and falls on the floor. The tub collapses next to her and water flows everywhere.
The tub spilled water everywhere!
"What the hell is going on here!"
"Xalanth! You came!" I hardly control my happiness that's blooming inside me.
"Xalanth stay back! Let me deal with the intruder!" Before she can find something else to throw at me, Xalanth come to defend me, blocking me from the psycho.
"Aunt Rhonda! What the hell are you doing?"
"What do it look like? I'm getting rib of the wolf! She's an intruder!"
"No she's not Rhonda! I brought her here."
"Why? How dare you! You know the rules! Yet you put the people in danger just like that?!"
"Aunt Rhonda you don't understand, Melody is mate."
She blinks, "what?"
"She's my mate. That's more important than her being a wolf." Xalanth turns to me, I'm covering on the floor."Are you okay Melody?"
I'm naked! Xalanth is talking to me and I'm naked! A guy is talking to me while I'm naked!!
"Oh sorry!" He quickly runs and grabs me a towel. When he puts a towel on me, he asks," what's this on your back?"
He's talking about my marking. I've had that since I was born," I'm not sure I was born with it. I asked my mother if had one too,but she never answered me. I always figured it was a birth mark or something."Mother told me it actually labels me as one of the alpha King's entertainers, but I don't want Xalanth to know that.
Xalanth wraps the towel around me and I stand on my feet. He holds me protectively,"come on Melody, lets get you dried off." We start to leave the washroom.
I look back to Xalanth's aunt, I can't believe she's actually related to him. I better keep my guard up around her, and just when I was starting to like thing place and feel like I really belong here too.

"So that's really your aunt?" I ask drying off my hair. Xalanth gave me one of his shirts to wear since one of the workers here could only find a pair of jeans that fit. Apparently I'm extremely thin, but compared to my mother I was the plump one. We got one meal a day to share and usually she'd let me eat most of the it, even when I'd insist she take more.
"I know it's hard to believe. It's like that with my mother's whole side of the family, wait till you meet Ike. They're extremely protective, maybe a bit to much. Luckily you don't smell so much like a wolf, you smell nice now. I mean you didn't stink before, you just smelt like a wolf, you smell more like a dragon now-which is great-but you smelt great before hand too-I'm not saying you stank-cause you didn't-I-I-just never mind."
I laugh, I got what he meant before he even explained, "I got what you meant Xal."
"'Xal?'"
"Oh sorry I didn't mean to-"
"No no. It's fine. I actually kinda like that."
"Really!" I'm getting excited like a child over nothing.
"Yeah, it sure beats: Prince Xalanth, your majesty, or your dragoness." He says he titles in a funny accent.
"Ha! You really the prince of dragons."
"Well yeah, the great Phoenix is said to created us from the fires of the sun and you wolves from the moon. I can't remember what everything was created from by the Phoenix."
"What Phoenix?" That sounds like a powerful creature or something.
"You don't know about the all mighty Phoenix? Well along time ago there was nothing in the world. Only a great Phoenix, a bird of fire and power, lived in the world.
"One day the great fire bird grew lonely and wished to create something, so it wouldn't be the only thing in this world. The Phoenix first created the moon, the stars, the sun, and the sky. Then the bird created the very land we live in today.
"After that, wolves were created by the moon. Since the Phoenix didn't create them, they never lived by the rules of the Phoenix. They only followed their moon goddess. The wolves brought distribution and chaos to the world the Phoenix had so loving made, so the fire bird asked the sun for help in hopes that together they could destroy the wolves.
"The sun then created us: the dragons. The Phoenix thought that our two species could live in harmony, and all would be peaceful, but wars broke out throughout the years.
"After years the dragons and wolves wanted to be the only creature living on this earth. Both sides asked for the Phoenix's help, for they both knew the Phoenix had the power to destroy everything it desired. However the Phoenix said it would only watch the fights for the years to come and not be involved.
"After many years of battles; the Phoenix grew tired of the war and decided to disappear from the world. The bird say it would never come back until someone, wolf or dragon, would come to it with the truest voice of voices.
"No one has ever seen the great Phoenix for many years, so many years that the great Phoenix has turn into a ledge we tell our young."
"What did this Phoenix look like?"
Xal shrugs, "no one knows for sure what the fire bird looks like, I've only seen a few ancient drawings of it, they actually look like the bird on your back."
Suddenly we hear a knock on the door, Xal goes to answer it, "it appears that dinner is ready." He extends his hand out to me, "hungry."
I follow Xal out to the room as we head to the dining hall, I look out at the fog rolling in from the wolf territory.
Could there really be such a thing as a bird like that?!
