Chp.7 Coma

"There. Now I'm no doctor but I think you'll live." I place a red bandage on Xal's face. It's the same shade of red as the bandage on my leg.
"You're going to kiss it to make it better?" He teases.
I roll my eyes,"close your eyes."
He does and I slowly make my way to the bandage, once close enough I close my eyes.
When I kiss the bandage sparks erupt on my lips, tingling me everywhere.
I open my eyes as I slowly feel Xal press his forehead against mine.
Wait!
How can did Xal's forehead touch mine if I kissed from the side?
I hits me.
I kissed his lips!
Or he kissed my lips.
Either way our lips touched!!
Xal smirks when he sees I realize what he did. I in return I slap. Not intentional so when I realize I slapped him I feel remorse. Some but not a lot.
"Oh I'm sorry Xal. I didn't mean to hit your burn."
"Ah! Note to self: don't kiss Mel when injured."
I really can't help but laugh, Xal joins in and we laugh like a bunch of mad men.
"What's so funny in here?"
Heart attack!
Xal and I both jump when we hear the queen's voice. She smiles at her victory.
"What're you two doing in here?"
"Nothing!" We both protest in unison.
She seems to not buy it.
Xal quickly tries to change the subject,"how the bear king?"
"King Osto's condition has stabilized luckily. But he hasn't woken up yet. They're saying he maybe in a coma."
"How long would he be in it?"
"Could be a few days or years. They don't know. What's important is that you saved him. If you hadn't gone into the territory and found him, he wouldn't have survived the building collapsing. Thank you Melody."
I nod my head not sure what I should say.
"Did you see what caused the fires?"
Both of us say no. The smoke was so thick we could hardly see each other. Even when Xal was attacked we couldn't see a thing.
"What ever it was it wasn't dragon."
"Are you sure Xalanth?"
He nods,"No dragons can burn the royal family. Also when it roared it didn't sound like a dragon. Similar but something was off..."
Xal has a look in his face like he's lost in thought.
"Xalanth. Are you sure it wasn't dragon? No other creatures have the ability to breathe fire. Think really hard was it dragon?" His father asks.
"I'm sure." He looks seriously, dead in the eyes of his father.
When the king sees how Xal is 100% sure, I can almost swear I see the king and queen a bit of color in there skins.
"Um excuse me your majesties?" A nurse knocks on the door we all turn to him,"a large crowd is forming in front of the hospital. They want to know about the bear king and everything, usually we'd tell them to leave but the crowd is only growing to fast for us to contain. They'll soon block the ambulance path."
How the hell does gossip spread like wild fire in this kingdom so fast?!
"I'll release a statement,"the king says,"Aurea can you take Xalanth and Melody out back?"
"Of course my dear."
"Wait!"We all look at Xalanth,"if Mel and I ere the ones who found the king shouldn't we talk about him? Plus everyone will know it was Mel who saved him and then everyone will know what she looks like."
"Xalanth does bring up a good point dear. What do you say Melody are you up for it?"
Me?!
"Now hold on! As king of the dragon kingdom it's my job to inform the public about-"
"And who's taking over the throne my dear?" The queen fires back. The king has nothing to say in return.
Ohhh she's good.
"What do you think Mel? Up for it. I'll do the talking if you don't want to."
Phew. There's no way I'm talking in front of a bunch of dragons.
I nod at Xal,"let's do it."

We head to the main entrance of the hospital,there hundreds of dragons are outside, some with signs even. Other dragons with large body shields block the other dragons from coming inside the hospital.
"We have to go talk to that!!!!!?"
Xal grabs my hand. "It'll be okay Mel."
He squeezes it for comfort and sparks fly from his touch. They instantly calm me.
I take one deep breathe as Xal pushes the door.
Once we enter the outside cameras flash left and right. Everyone is in a up roar and I can only get bits of what people are saying.
"Look it's the Prince."
"Is that his mate?"
"She doesn't look like a monster wolf like everyone is saying."
"Why isn't the bear king out yet? Is he dead?"
The dragons with the body shields lower them so everyone can see us. The camera flash only intensifies.
I use my hand that's not connected with Xal's to block my face from the light.
I've never been exposed to such a bright light!
Suddenly I hear a low growl come from my side.
Xal's eyes changed color from their usual blue to a fierce red. His growl load and powerful.
The cameras immediately stop, and everyone waits for us to speak.
"Fellow dragons. I ask for you to listen. I bring you great and concerning news. As you all can probably guess who is beside me, your next queen and my mate: Princess Melody." The people bow their heads," she maybe wolf but I assure you my mate is nothing like those other dogs we've been at war with. If not for her one of our greatest allies the bear king would not be alive today." I hear quite murmurs throughout the crowd,"the bear has been destroyed. None of us know for sure for only Melody could enter the kingdom undetected. She single handedly rescued the bear king and saved his life. Now I understand you all wish to see king Osto but he is still very weak and needs rest. As dragons you should respect that and as subjects to the royal family you should honor that."
I've never seen Xal like this before. He's so bold and strong. I like it!
Xal talks for a little more then we turn to reenter the hospital. A media source does ask us to stand for a photo and were force to oblige. After the photo we run inside and the king and queen give us a huge hug, saying how proud of us. I don't why they're proud of me, Xal did all the talking not me.
"Not so tight..."
"...we're still swore."
They let go and apologize.
"Come lets get you two home."
"I'm sure you both need some rest."
Rest. I can't think of anything that sounds better than that.
