The Queen carefully wraps my hands in bandages.
Xal looks like he's ready to punch the bear King ,"you better explain why your book almost killed my melody!"
"Please Xalanth you're being dramatic. Melody was in no danger."
"Then why are her hands burnt!"
"I had magic placed on the book for protection, in case a wolf where to touch it then they'd wouldn't be able to access its information."
"What's so special about that book King Osto?" The King asked.
"Raziel, this book contains some of the greatest secrets of all the kingdoms. This book contains information about the great Phoenixes that once roamed these lands."
We all stare at the King in disbelief.
"The Phoenixes...King Osto that was just a fairy tale for children. They can't exist."
"That's what you've been thought, but the bear kingdom is one of the eldest around. And it's no secret that I'm no young cub. The great Phoenixes lived aeons ago, and now I fear that they will return."
"But that's impossible bear man. They're all dead."
"Ike!" Rhonda snapped at him.
"No no it's alright my lady. I thought the same as you're son did until a few years ago when alpha Seth started having more of his wolves come around my kingdom. I thought he was looking to take it over but in truth he was looking for information."
"And this book, has all the information about how them in it."
"Not all the info but it has the secrets on how to release them from their inprisonment."
"They're what?!" I ask.
"Like in the stories."
I look at him blankly.
"You've never heard the story? Well it's a wonderful tale. Full of magic and-"
"We really don't have time to tell stories right now King Osto. Why don't you go back to explaining your book."
"It's honestly better if I show you. Melody will you help me?"
I start cautiously walk up to him.
Before I reach him I feel someone grab my hip, and pull me to the side.
Xal?
"I don't want her going anywhere near that book."
"Xalanth you don't need to worry. Melody has already been burnt once I doubt she'll want to have that happen again. Come here my dear, I want you sing this."
The bear King starts a tune but Xal growls and pulls me closer.
King Osto notices and stops."is that really how you want it? Alright then. Well I'm sure it's late and we are all tired. Isn't that right King Raziel."
"Yes I suppose so, we all could use a little rest."
Just as fast as everyone came, we all start to leave. Except King Osto he stays at the piano and starts to play it. I only hear a few notes before Xal guides me up to our room.

That night I can't sleep.
No! I still hear that song the King was playing in my head.
I know I shouldn't but I head back down to the library the bear King took us to from Xal's office. Sure enough he's still there playing away.
He sees me and smiles."so you couldn't resist? Must be the Phoenix in you."
"Did you say something?"
"Of course not my dear."
The King goes back to playing scales on the piano.
"Where did you learn that?"
"Oh piano. Everyone in the bear kingdom is a great musician. Instrumentally and vocally. Comes natural to us."
"No not that. The song. Where'd you learn the song?"
"From the book my dear. That's what I want to show you!" He starts playing the song again I can't help but sway along.

I see fire by Ed sherran (look up Rebecca Shearing's cover)
Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my peoples' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Phoenix blood

"You see Melody, a long time ago great Phoenixes lived with the rest of the kingdoms. They where the King of kings in a way. They ruled over everyone and had the power to do anything."

If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night

Calling out oh fire
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side

"Over the years the kings of the kingdoms grew tired of being controlled by the Phoenixes. So all together they came up with a plan all pure bred Phoenixes where to be sealed away from the world and only the Kings would have the ability to control them."

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time

Calling out oh fire
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

"When the Kings tired to control the Phoenix after they had caged them for so long, the great fire bird killed any ruler who sot to tame it. It wasn't until later that people realized that the Phoenix could only be control by song."

Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame

Calling out oh fire
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

"But not just any voice could control the Phoenix. See Phoenixes could breed with other species over the years very few pure blood remained. A Phoenix half blood has all the power of a Phoenix and the voice of a thousand Angels. She just has to realize who she really is."

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my people will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out

Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze

I see fire
And I am fire
And I am fire
And I see Phoenix fire burn on the mountain side

Once King Osto stops the music I end my singing.
Strange. It was like I was in a trance or something.
"Over the years people thought all the Phoenix half breeds where dead, and so the Phoenix became a bedtime story. But after hearing that... Melody, there's something I must explain to you."

Narrator: Meanwhile in the lands between the kingdoms.
"My alpha...is this really necessary? With the book being gone we don't know if she can handle this."
"Oh course she can handle this. She'll be locked away again if she doesn't."
The alpha king's wolves dragged a large box/cage looking thing along. The alpha King was taking them somewhere every important and he needed what was in that cage.
"Ah here it is! The ancient shrine of the flame gods!"
The alpha started to enter the temple and his wolves slowly flowed behind him.
Before the could enter a small old man blocked their path. He was the head of the shrine and its care taker. Normally he'd love visitors but normally is not in the middle of the night.
"Now see here as head monk of the temple-"
The alpha King grabbed the man by the neck and squeezed until he heard bones break.
The alpha King walked to the main room of the temple, there craving and ancient writing decorated the walls.
"Bring her here."
The wolves put the cage in the center of the room and unlocked it.
A frail women walked out of the cage. She covered her eyes from the moonlight since she hadn't seen it in so long.
She instantly knew where she was once her eyes adjusted.
"Do it!" The alpha King growled.
The woman gulped and began.
She started to sing a sweet little folk song.
"I see fire, inside the mountain..."
The woman continued and the alpha King wickedly smiled as she did.
"That's a good Songbird."
