What Were You Thinking?

"Who killed her?"

"A knight. In Camelot. Stabbed her. She didn't know I was alive."

"I'm so sorry." And I was. No one should have to suffer that sort of pain. It hurt enough when someone you love dies, let alone them think you're dead. "Why did she think you were dead?"

"I left home, two years after that I was captured by bandits. They sent word home that I had died. She was six when I left. I found she had been killed a year ago. I always asked after her at every village we've visited. I'm the leader, I chose where we go. I chose Camelot."

I have to admit. He has patience.

"I admire your determination." Arthur buts into my thoughts. "But if you don't know which knights killed her, who are you going to kill?" Really Arthur? You just made thing a thousand times worse.

"I would have thought that would have been obvious. I'm going to kill you."

She threw us all in a cell together. She must have great belief in her guards.

"Merlin, what were you thinking?"

"What was I thinking? Arthur, are you stupid? What were you thinking because it obviously was gobbledygook."

"Did you just?"

"Yes, yes I did! You were very stupid out there. Do you have any idea how much pain he must be in. To know that your sister died thinking that her brother was dead? How much it must hurt to know you can never speak to then again, never touch them, hear them laugh, see them smile, watch them cry ever again. You've lost your Father, I know that. But you were there for his last moments, you have people that still love you and care about you and vice versa. He has no one. The rest of his family is probably dead as well or he would have gone back to them. Think about that."

The knights are staring at me: Gwaine looks impressed, Elyan shocked, Percival confused, Leon looks utterly bewildered and Arthur look betrayed.

"Mate, I didn't realise you sympathised with bandits that much." Gwaine says, back into carefree mode.

"Only when I understand their pain. Especially if I've felt it to "

"But Merlin, what do you mean, understand their pain." Poor Percival looks even more confused.

"Don't worry about it Percival. It doesn't matter." I say, shooting them a glare that cold raise the dead, daring them to question me.
"Well, we could be here for a while. Anyone wanna play a game?"
