Chapter 9

Myles' pov
Briar was rushed to hospital and I came in the ambulance with her. Now I'm in the waiting room because I can't see her yet. I need to tell her something but I'm really scared to. I need to tell her that I like her. Well love her to be honest. If I lose her now, I'll never forgive myself. I just feel like I could've stopped Lexi before she reached Briar, but I didn't. I couldn't reach her, and now, Briar is stuck in hospital.
Suddenly the nurse walks out of Briar's room.
"You may see her now. She still needs time to recover so she can't go home today or tomorrow. You can stay with her overnight if you want though." She says and walks away.
I walk into Briar's room where I see her sitting upright on her bed. She has a bandage around her head and right wrist as well as all her cuts and bruises.
I walk towards her and she sees me which makes her smile weakly.
"Hey." I say softly and sit on a chair next to her bed.
"Hey." She replies quietly.
"How are you feeling?" I ask.
"A bit better but not much." She says in her quiet voice.
She only goes quiet when she's nervous.
"You don't need to be nervous. Lexi isn't here." I say.
"I guess not." She says.
"Briar how long has Lexi been bullying you?" I ask.
"About two years." She says.
"Two years? That's a long time." I say.
"Yeah and she isn't going to stop now." She says.
"Briar I'm so sorry that this happened to you." I say.
"It wasn't your fault." She says.
"I just feel like I could've stopped her quicker." I say.
"You saved me Myles." She says.
I smile at her.
"How's your head?" I ask as I look at the long bandage that is wrapped around it.
"It hurts." She says.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" I ask.
She shakes her head slowly.
"You just being here is enough." She says and smiles at me.
"Briar I have something to ask you." I say nervously.
"What is it?" She asks.
"Would you like to go on a date with me?" I ask and bite my bottom lip.
"Yes." She says and smiles.
I give her a hug and she shuffles up to the other end of the bed so that I can sit next to her. I lie down next to her and she snuggles up to me. I smile at her because she looks so cute.
"I love you Briar." I say.
"I-I love you too Myles." She says and rests her head on my chest.
I put my arm around her and she falls asleep.
