Chapter 15

Myles' pov
Yesterday I tutored Briar in maths and she's actually really good at maths. She was better than me. I don't know why she did badly in her test.
Anyway, I'm waiting outside the main entrance of the school for Briar because I don't want Lexi to find her first. God knows what she'll do to her.
Soon enough I see the most beautiful girl ever walking towards me. Her straight blonde hair is blowing in the wind and she smiles at me.
"Hey My." She says.
"Is that a new nickname for me?" I ask.
"Yeah. Do you like it?" I ask.
"I love it." I say and kiss her.
Yesterday we kissed for the first time and it was amazing. I really do love her. Then I see Lexi walking behind her. She sticks a note on her back. Briar picks it off and it says 'go kill yourself lol'. Her beautiful smile disappears.
"Just ignore Lexi. She's jealous of you." I say.
"Maybe. I'm just so tired of feeling scared to go to school because of her." She says.
"I'll wait here every day for you." I say.
She hugs me and the bell goes.
"Thank you." She whispers in my ear and walks to class.
We have science. Briar sits next to Lexi. This won't be good.
Briar's pov
I walk into science and ask the teacher if I can move places. She says no and Lexi is fake smiling at me. I sit down in my seat and cover my cheeks with my hair.
"Ok class today we're doing an experiment. You're going to need a bunsen burner and water. You'll heat up the water to get the chemicals out." Mrs Williams says.
Then she puts us into pairs and me and Lexi are together. I just know that Lexi is smiling and I also know that by the end of this lesson, I will probably be in the nurse's office.
I grab the equipment and Lexi pours the water into a beaker. Then I light the bunsen burner, put the beaker on top and start waiting for the chemicals to come out.
After a few minutes, the teacher goes out of the room to get something and Lexi turns her head towards me. No one else is looking and Lexi knocks our equipment off the table onto me. Boiling water goes all over me and I scream in pain. She sits there and laughs at me. I run out of the room into the nurse's office and she pours cold water all over me to stop the burns from going deeper into my skin. I scream again.
Myles' pov
Everyone goes silent as we witness what just happened. The only noise is Lexi laughing.
"Come on guys! Laugh with me." She says and continues to laugh.
No one makes a sound. Instead, we all gather around her.
"Lexi you're a horrible person!" Mason yells.
"I can't believe that you burnt Briar!" Luke yells.
The teacher walks back in and asks what's going on. Everyone tells her what Lexi did and the teacher starts yelling at Lexi.
When no one was looking, I slipped out of the classroom and went to the nurse's office. I walk in and see Briar in so much pain. The nurse is throwing cold water over her. I run towards her.
"Briar you're going to be ok." I say.
I don't know what else to say. I mean I don't even know if she will be ok.
After a bit, she calms down and sits down on a bed. I sit next to her and put my arm around her.
"Why do you come in here practically every day?" The nurse asks Briar.
"Because I'm accident prone." Briar lies.
I can't just sit here and watch her says that.
"That's not true. Lexi is bullying her really badly." I say.
"Myles!" Briar exclaims.
"Well I'll try and put a stop to it." The nurse says.
"Don't tell anyone! Lexi will hurt me even more if she found out that someone told on her." Briar yells.
"Oww." She says.
"Don't raise your voice or move much. It'll make the pain worse." The nurse says and leaves us alone.
"You know, no one else laughed at you." I say as she rests her head on my shoulder.
"Really?" She asks.
"Yep. They just told her what a horrible person she is."  I say.
"Briar?" I ask and look at her.
Her eyes are shut and she's fast asleep. I smile at myself for two reasons-
1) Briar is so freaking adorable when she's asleep.
2) I get to miss lessons until she wakes up.
"Sleep well beauty." I whisper to her and kiss her forehead.
Then I turn the lamp off.
