Brooklyn POV
'Kids! It's time for me to do your hair!' Yelled Mom from downstairs. I heard a loud charge of footsteps as a glimpse of Rylan, Kamri and Daxton shot past my half open doorway. And a muffled 'coming' ran through my ears. I realised I had said it, without any sheer thought. Bailey came in and looked at me weirdly.
'A ponytail!? Seriously! Mum will flip it if she sees this, literally!' She exclaimed quietly, looking at my recently dyed purple tips of my hair bunched up behind my head. I untwisted my hair tie and grabbed her arm, as we set of slowly downstairs. Paisley walked right up behind us and smiled. I reached behind me and picked her up, as we continued heading to the bathroom. And there was a small lineup, as usual, but I didn't mind.'So Rylan wants a combover, Kam wants a fishtail, Paisley wants twists, Bailey can have an inverted fishtail and Brooklyn can have a Dutch.' Mom said as she finished slicking back Daxton's hair. Then I saw her brush Rylan's hair really roughly. It was really short now, as short as Paisley's. I asked to talk to her after as she walked out into the kitchen. Then it was Kamri's turn to be hurt. She combed her hair first, purposely leaving marks on her arms as the gashes of roughness continued. I saw a tear leak out of her eye as she emerged from the bench, arms bleeding. I told her to wait with Rylan. Then I turned and saw Paisley silently crying as small spurts of blood came out of where mom had done her twists. When she was dropped down, I picked her up and handed her to Rylan, who gladly accepted. Then I felt strange as I turned to see her yanking Bailey's hair without brushing it over. And once she finally got out, it was my turn. I placed myself down silently on the bench as mom began her routine of pulling out a strand of hair from my purple section. And once she had done, I felt my head and there was a lump on one edge. I didn't think much of it.
When mom had shooed me out, I walked over to the rest of the family. I looked at Paisley's tear stained face and kissed her head to make it 'better.' Then I walked into the kitchen and found a bandaid for one of Kamri's continuously bleeding cuts. I hugged Bailey in her all black denim and leather clothes, as she went to get her bag, and I then turned to Rylan. 'Why did you cut your hair?' I asked.
Rylan POV
Why did I cut it? I didn't want to. Mom made me. She said that if it wasn't cut soon, she would pull it out herself. But I wasn't going to say that. So instead I said 'I wanted to look like some older person.' Brooklyn nodded, with a look that said 'I don't believe you,' and walked upstairs into her room. I went to my room and grabbed a small purple hat that I wore daily, to disguise my head and pretend it was in some updo. I grabbed my worn out green school bag that had 'weird' written on it from when Bailey and been teased, and headed out the door.
Kamri POV
Once I had walked away from my sisters, I headed for my bedroom. I put some antibacterial cream onto my larger cuts and grabbed one of Brooklyn's old knapsacks which she let me have. It was dark red with blue pockets. And I either used that or a shopping bag, so which one do you reckon I chose? Anyway, I slipped a pair of converse on, put on my usual smile, and walked outside.
