A Bump In The Road (Brooklyn and Bailey)

Rylan POV

I heard footsteps approaching. Kamri sprinted out the door as I sat in curiosity. The so called 'mom' stormed into my room and slammed the door behind her. She was armed with a hairbrush. Brooklyn ran in afterward, but mom pushed her out and slammed the door again.
"So, I found out about you," she said, "and I thought I'd fill you in. Things go my way around here and my way only. So don't try to do it your own way, because you'll fail horribly and-" she was cut off by what I assumed was the front door closing. My entire body shook as her face softened and she walked out of the room after muttering something about coming back. Brooklyn had gotten up and was rushing to my side by this point. She wrapped her arms around me and I sobbed into her chest. She cradled me as my other siblings came in and joined us, and I suddenly felt safer than I had two minutes prior. The only difference was that Bailey wasn't there.

Bailey POV

I found Brooklyn on the floor outside of Rylan's room. I don't know what she was doing there, but I intended to find out. I suddenly heard the front door open and close momentarily, which was followed by mom speedwalking out of the room. Brooklyn and the rest of our siblings ran into Rylan's room, but I went downstairs cautiously.
"What happened with the girls?" Dad asked.
"They are claiming that Rylan has memory loss, but I don't really believe them." She responded.
"It could be a serious thing, I hope you didn't.. do .. anything to them.."
"Oh, no, of course not. I just set a few things straight."
And there it was, her outright lie. Dad believed more in verbal punishment, but mom varied. I moved a bit behind the door that I was hiding behind, and mom turned my way. She stormed over and pulled the door around, and glared at me. She her and dad began shouting at me and calling me an eavesdropper and things like that. They then walked out of the room and closed the door, locking it from the outside. Looks like I'll be sleeping in here tonight.
