Alex
I released a giant sigh of relief and shut the door to Britten's new apartment. I'd just broken up with Nora after being so nervous to do so, but it turned out that she'd completely understood. She'd told me that my heart was never fully into her and she knew that.
I looked around now at a few boxes with different words written on them and paint cans around the apartment. Britten came out of a room down the hall with athletic wear on and hair worked into two braids. She looked adorable.
"How did you get all of these boxes here, didn't you just move?" I asked her. She set the empty box by the door and turned to look at me. "We started moving here two days ago." Britten said. "We only took what we needed but we're furniture shopping for the rest." She seemed out of breath as she propped her hands on her hips and let out a breath. I laughed at her.
"What?" She questioned, smiling. "Nothing." I said and kissed her forehead. "So what am I unpacking?"
After finishing unpacking the few things that we could, Mira and Britten joined me in the living room and stopped to look around. I watched as they whispered to each other, pointing around the room occasionally and shook my head. They were probably plotting their furniture plan.
There was a knock at the door and I opened it up to Tyler on the ground, tying his shoe. He looked up at me and smiled. "Hey, buddy, what I miss?" He said. I rolled my eyes. "Tyler, we already finished unpacking things." I informed him. "Clearly not." He replied, pointing at the other few boxes around. "And I came for the furniture- It's exciting."
"How did you get here, anyway?" I asked him, knowing that no matter how athletic he was, he was not going to walk for an hour to get here. I had mom's car, so there was no other way.
"I also got here by car." Tyler said, grinning from ear to ear, suspiciously. "Who's car? Tyler did you steal a car?"
He shook his head and pointed at me. "No, you're not blaming a stolen car on me." I said told him, but he shook his head again. "It's your car." He said. I looked at him confused. My car? "I sold my car, Tyler, remember?" I said. He nodded.
"And now it's gone."He motioned for me to follow him outside. We walked toward the parking lot and I saw the lights of a black, Nissan Altima flash in front of me. I looked at Tyler and he was holding up the keys, pressing random buttons. "Out with the old, in with the new." He said. I couldn't do anything but smile.
"What's this all about?" I heard Mira's voice say from behind us. I turned around and both of the girls were walking toward us from out of the apartment. "I was showing him his new car." Tyler said, placing the keys in my hands. "Courtesy of mom." He said to me.
"Ooo, how nice." Mira said. "So are we taking your new ride or not?" I laughed and nodded as we started walking toward the car. The smell of new seats and fresh leather filled my nose. However Ma afforded this was out of my knowledge, but I was grateful.
We took of, heading toward Ikea to get furniture for the new apartment. When we walked in, it was like the girls didn't know how to control themselves. And the most excited one of all? Tyler. I could've sworn I heard him screech as he ran up the stairs to start looking for things.
We walked around upstairs, Britten looking at bed sets for her bed that she said she'd never get rid of.
"How about this one?" She asked me, handing me a bulky bag that contained a floral bed set. I opened my mouth to speak, but she said, "nah" and put it back.
