"For the hundredth time, I'm fine." Carter sighed, shifting around underneath the blanket on top of her. "It was just a hunting accident."

"You drove down here by yourselves?" Melissa asked, handing Cooper a cup of coffee.

"Cooper drove, I'm uh," Carter gestured lazily to her shoulder, yawning through her words. "Handicapped."

"I'm taking a plane back tomorrow." Cooper added, taking a sip of coffee.

"Wait, why did you leave Portland?" Aria's eyebrows furrowed slightly, Carter clearing her throat.

"Just a family misunderstanding." She shook her head, making eye contact with Scott for a short second after her heart skipped a beat. "I just couldn't be a hunter anymore."

"Well, you could have at least called-"

Aria's scolding was broken off by the slamming of the front door, making Carter flinch slightly in fear of what was to come.

"Carter, I like you and all, but the ignoring me for days and showing up unannounced is kind of getting-" Malia stopped in her tracks, her expression softening. "What happened to your arm?"

"I just had surgery, I only need the sling for four weeks." She attempted to shrug, but it only resulted in one shoulder going up awkwardly. "And someone didn't charge my phone."

Cooper gave Malia a sheepish wave, both girls rolling their eyes.
