Carter let out a groan and wiped at her mouth, flushing the toilet to get rid of whatever she'd eaten in the last twenty four hours.

"Carter, you okay?" Mara questioned through the door, knocking lightly. "Stiles is gonna be here in a few."

"Yeah." She opened the door, running her hand through her hair. "Just lightweight."

"Sorry babe." Her cousin smiled sheepishly, holding out a piece of gum that Carter took thankfully. "Do you remember anything from last night?"

"Nope." She sighed, stifling a yawn and walking down the hallway. She froze when she was pulled into a hug, a confused look on her face. "Morning, Kira?"

"I'm so sorry." She pulled away, a look of pure pity on her face.

"It's just a small hangover." Carter chuckled, shaking her head. "I actually feel a lot better now that I threw up, but-"

"I mean about your sister."

Carter's face went from confused, to angry, to weary. She just let out a tired laugh and looked at her friends, all with guilty looks on their faces.

"Thanks, guys." She grabbed her phone off the counter and shoved it into her pocket. "Mara, Stiles is here. We should leave."

"Carter," Malia got to the door the same time she did, her face saying she was nothing but sorry. "You're not mad, are you?"

"No." Carter cleared her throat painfully and shook her head, reaching for the doorknob. "I don't know how I feel."

"You smell disappointed." She replied quietly and moved to touch her arm, but she moved away slightly.

"Please, stop. I need to go, okay?"

Before Malia could utter a goodbye or an apology Carter was out the door, sliding past Stiles and making her way out the jeep.

"Is she usually like this after?" Malia asked Mara, the girl bitting down on her lip and shaking her head.

"No. And I think that's a bad thing."
