after class ended I walked quickly with the large group of people hoping Harry wouldn't find me like he did every day. usually I hate being in crowds, but to avoid Harry it was worth it. I try to not be noticeable, but obviously I failed because I caught a glimpse of Harry. he looked like he was looking at me. I pretended I didn't see him and quickened my pace. maybe he didn't see me or maybe he won't bother me today. that'd be a miracle at best.
I was sure I had gotten away from all the other students including Harry. I sighed, relaxing that I wouldn't have to talk to him today, unless he comes to the apartment. at least then I could hide in my room. I don't know why I hate confrontation with him. he makes me mad, but also makes me nervous. it's two opposite feelings.
just as I turned the corner I hit a hard chest. "watch where you're going." the guy said in a low voice.
"oh I'm so sorry. I- wait it's just you." I said realizing it was just Harry. great. I exhaled annoyed. I strolled in front of him carrying on my way.
"you sounded intimidated back there. did you not recognize my voice?" he said walking right next to me.
"no. I wasn't paying attention." I said as we headed toward the quad. I hate having to go through this part of school. there are so many people and it overwhelms me. on top of that walking with Harry almost made it worst because then people look at me wondering why I'm walking with him. it just makes me so self conscience and anxious. it's times like this I wish I was invisible.
"hey, did I tell you that you look cute today?" he asked.
"no, but you do every other day." I answered.
"well you look very cute today." he said. he seems like he's being nice and he is, but later he's going to be yelling at me and telling how much he hates me. it's very confusing.
"where are you going now?"
"I don't know why I need to tell you. you always seem to find." I said.
"that's true, but really where are you going?" he said.
"just the apartment."
"did you drive?"
"no. why?"
"I'm gonna drive home then."
"aren't you supposed ask if I want you to drive me home?"
"well you would say yes anyway."
"nuh uh."
"you wouldn't say no."
"and why is that?"
"because you're too nice to say no, so you would just say I don't know and end up saying yes." he explained.
"ugh whatever." I said. he followed behind me. I wasn't paying attention until someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around
"um excuse me." it was the girl, who Harry said that was named Hannah.
"yeah?" I said confused as to why she was talking to me.
"I'm gonna need to leave my boyfriend alone." she said. woah, woah boyfriend. I thought the Harry Styles does not date only one night stands.
"glad to. you two are perfect for each other." I said as sarcastically as possible. I walked away. I was almost to the parking lot when Harry caught up to me. "where are you going?" he said from behind me.
"home. I thought we already had this discussion." I said.
"I meant like why didn't you wait on me." He said.
"I thought you would want to go with your girlfriend." I said trying walk away from him, but he grabbed my hand pulling me in the other direction.
"uh-uh you're riding with me remember?" he said.
"I didn't think you were serious." I said.
"of course I was. I'd honestly rather go with you than her." he said.
"why?" I scrunched my eyebrows together trying figure if he was being serious.
"even though you're annoying, I like to annoy you more than her." he said.
"that's the nicest thing you've said to me." I laughed.
"don't get used to it." he said.
"trust me, I don't have high hopes for you being nice to me." I said. I followed him to his car. I was surprised when we stopped at a black Range Rover. "this is your car?" I said.
"yeah." he said. we got in the car and he started driving. "just so you know Hannah isn't my girlfriend."
"oh." was all I said. the rest of the ride was silent. he parked. I declined his offer to walk me up to the apartment. after thanking him for the ride I got out and walked through the entrance. I took the elevator to my floor and wandered down the hallway to our door. I unlocked and opened the door and walked into the kitchen. NIall was cooking something. "what are you doing?"
"cooking, how was school?" he asked.
"it was good." I said.
"did you see Harry?" he said.
"yeah he talked to me and drove me home." I said.
"and you two didn't kill each other." he said.
"no, I honestly don't know if he likes me or hates me. it's so confusing." I said.
"I've never seen him like this." he said.
"does he have a girlfriend?" I said.
"well there's this girl that he's been with more than once. and she likes to call herself his girlfriend, but I don't think he really likes her." he explained.
"oh." I didn't really know what to say. I always figured Harry was like that, but I had always hoped that I was wrong.
"Harry is one of those guys that gives the girl just enough to keep her coming back, but he hasn't done that in a while." he added.
"so he's a fuckboy?" I asked.
"yep." he said.
"is that why you don't want me to get involved with him?" I asked starting to put together as to why he didn't want me to be with him.
"yeah. he'll just end up hurting you." he said. I started to realize that it's better if I only stayed friends with Harry not that I wanted to be more I just knew now that I absolutely couldn't be with him.
