I spotted Nadia sitting at a small table near the window all the way in the corner when I walked into the café. It was a cold, rainy day and I was bundled up under several jumpers and my biggest coat. I initially did not want to step one toe out of my flat today since it was my day off, but Nadia had texted me asking to meet me for lunch since we haven't seen each other in a while.
I accepted solely because I was very curious to find out what was going on between her and Zayn. I saw Zayn two days ago with Liam when I went to see Liana. They were headed out for work and while I did ask Zayn what was going on, he was brief. Liana later told me they were busy at work since tour was coming up so they had several meetings with management over the next few weeks. She also told me that Zayn wasn't really talking about Nadia, just being his usual quiet self.
Zayn's quiet demeanor is nice sometimes. It's calming and kind of hot because he's all mysterious, yeah. But from time to time, I find it so annoying because I never know what he's thinking. Hopefully, I'll get something out of Nadia. I'm not that close with her so I'm going to beat around the bush and see what she says.
I walked over to the table and smiled brightly when she looked up. "Hi," she said, standing up and walking over to give me a hug. I hugged her back and felt her shiver.
"Sorry," I said, pulling away. "It's a bit freezing out there."
"No, it's fine," she said. "It's really warm in here so it felt weird. Sorry for the last minute invitation."
I shook my head, laughing as I took off my coat and mittens. "Not a problem, love. I would have been home watching the telly all day anyway. How are you doing?" I sat down on my chair and looked at her.
"I'm good," she said. "Finally off from Uni for the winter. Don't have to be back till next month."
"Wow," I said. "Liana isn't off until a week later or something. She's cramming for exams all week."
"Poor thing," Nadia said, pouting. "I met her while you were away on vacation with Harry."
I giggled and scrunched my nose. "It was a very mini vacation. We were there about four days. He just wanted to go see his family and it was also Gemma, his sister's, birthday. She had this massive birthday weekend and it was nice going along. It's rare for the boys to go back home."
"I would think so," she said. "Back in Bradford, there were so many days when Doniya would be so upset because she'd be missing Zayn."
Yes. She just brought up Zayn. Thank you for making my job easier, Nadia. "Really? Aw." I asked. "I mean, I know Zayn really likes going back home. He goes as much as he can." Nadia nods and gets a little quiet. Now's a better time than any. "So, speaking of Zayn...are you guys still hanging out?"
She purses her lips and nods. "Yeah, we are. Well, I haven't seen him in a while since I had finals. But we did text here and there."
"Oh," I said, nodding. "Are things the same between you two?"
She frowned a little and cocked her head, looking confused. "Yeah?"
"No, like...okay," I said sighing. "I can't beat around the bush. I'm obviously really bad at it. Are you guys dating or not?"
Nadia looked taken aback and I bit my lip, worried I might have crossed a line or something. But then she started to blush and smiled softly. I looked at her, grinning and just waiting for her to admit it. It was written all over her face that she likes Zayn. But really, who in their right mind wouldn't like Zayn? He was so fucking pretty, he was. I watched as Nadia shrugged her shoulders. "We aren't dating...nothing of that sort happened."
