"I had sex with Harry."
Liana and Niall looked up from where they were sitting. Both of their jaws were wide open and their eyes were practically bugging out. Maybe I shouldn't have just blabbed it out while the three of us were spending a quiet afternoon in their flat, talking about the weather and plans. I assume it was a bit shocking for them considering I went from talking about my job to having sex with Harry.
But, really, who could blame me?
It's all I'd been thinking about since it happened and while at first I didn't wanna say anything, it was at the tip of my tongue, begging to roll out.
Niall was the first to speak. "When did this happen? Wait, no. Are you fucking with us? Like...is this a joke?"
"Nope," I shook my head. "It happened like three days ago."
"You're a little shit," Liana said. "Why didn't you tell me before? We hung out like two days ago. We talked about my stupid course work and you didn't even bother to tell me."
"I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tell anyone," I told her. "I don't even know why I just said it now. I'm just confused." I groaned and put my hands to my face before setting it down to my knees.
"Can you back up a little and tell us how this happened?" Niall asked. "Cause last time I checked, the two of you were not single."
"Don't even get me started on our relationship statuses, Niall," I said, through my hands.
"Riley, cut the crap and tell us what happened," Liana snapped.
"Harry came to my flat...and he told me...that Emma broke up with him and like, I don't even know. Somehow we ended up kissing and yeah...we just kept going, you know?"
Niall's face hardened a little and Liana looked like she was trying to picture it, which was a bit sick on her part.
"Riley," Niall said slowly. "Have you spoken to him since?"
"A little," I told them. "Like...after that night, when I woke up...it was a bit awkward. And that's weird, right? Like, we weren't drunk the night before so we couldn't blame it on alcohol. We had no one to blame but ourselves. But it was still awkward but somehow it was okay...Harry and I talked a little. About nothing, really. And he left. I haven't seen him since and we texted a little in between. But mostly, he says he's been busy and I've had work too."
"We've been working," Niall told me. "And, he's been talking to Emma. I don't think they've broken up."
I felt my breakfast curling up in my stomach, ready to come back out. I licked my chapped lips and frowned at Niall. "Really?"
Niall nodded his head. "I asked who he was talking to and he said Emma. Come to think of it, he hasn't even mentioned you in the past three days and that's weird because he's always going on about you, isn't he?"
I really didn't want to cry in front of Niall and Liana but I felt like shit. I'm embarrassed...not because Niall and Liana know that I helped Harry cheat but I'm ashamed of myself. I let my guard down which is something I never do to the one guy who seems to continually push my feelings aside. No one wants to be a second choice so why do I keep subjecting myself to this? This isn't who I am, this is never someone I used to be, so why now? Harry shouldn't be any different even if he is my best friend.
"You okay?" Liana asked, noticing how quiet I became.
I looked up at her and sighed. "I feel a bit stupid but I'm okay. I don't know, Li. What am I supposed to say or do?"
"It's a tricky situation," Niall said. I pouted and looked at the two...because weren't they in the same position a few weeks ago? But they seem fine now. Who knows what happens here when I'm not here, though? Liana hasn't said anything and neither has Niall. "Listen...just be normal with Harry. I know...sex isn't just whatever. It's huge but at this point just be normal."
