PIERCE POV

Have you ever experienced that moment when you see someone cry and just wish that those shed tears were not from anguish or hurt? That maybe they were just tears of joy? But no matter how much you wish they were indeed from joy, reality just came rushing to slap you in the face.

I watched with a heart full of agony as tears started to slid down his cheeks. I don't think he even noticed that he was already crying as he kept looking my way. Shame and guilt flooded me as I hung my head down.

Just how much have I hurt this man already? Is this my only role in his life, to give him suffering and hurt? To be the reason why this big strong man shed countless tears? It is always like this. Something happens and he always ends up broken hearted.

But right now, this moment is the worst blow to him. He didn't even knew that I was already married. He just thought I was in a relationship with someone else. And now, not only does he find out about my marriage but for it to be with his estranged brother? The fates must be having fun toying with us.

I can't even begin to comprehend just how much he is hurting right now. The urge to grovel at his feet, to beg for forgiveness for all the pain I caused him was so strong.

I don't know how, I don't care what others may think but I just want to comfort him right now.

Just as I was about to step forward towards Mason's direction, Mattie beat me to it as he rushed towards his brother's side. Brothers... God I still can't believe it.

"Mason! Bro, what's wrong? Was it something I said? Why are you crying?"

I didn't know what Mason's answer to Mattie's question would be. But should he ever decide to tell the truth, I won't even object. The least I could do was acknowledge his existence in my life no matter what Mattie's reaction would be.

However, Mason didn't answer him. He was just looking straight ahead as tears kept falling. Worry gnawed at me, wondering if he was okay since he wasn't emitting any sound at all. There were no hiccups, sobs or even whimpers accompanying his tears. He was just....silent.

Oh God is he in shock?

A timid knock brought my attention to the door as it opened and revealed Dominic's presence. His face held a surprised smile seeing the amount of people in the room. Said smile though was immediately wiped away as he saw Mason's state.

He rushed towards Mason's side much to Theresa and Dad's surprise. Dom reached out to gently cup Mason's face as he wiped the tears away with his thumbs.

Mason seemed to snap out of daze as he looked up at Dom, seemingly startled by the doctor's sudden presence. They just kept looking at each other's eyes. I don't know what it was, but whatever Mason saw in Dominic's eyes made him clutch at his coat as he burried his face in his chest and muffled his sobs.

Dominic just rubbed Mason's back as he whispered comforting words. My mind just wanted to scream 'THAT SHOULD BE ME!' but I kept myself in check. No need to add more complications, besides I don't really have a right to be hurt at the sight of another man holding Mason.
