Curtains flew open, shining light into the room of a suburban house on a sunny August day.
"Ugh, five more minutes," a girl said while shielding herself from the sun with a comforter.
"Lyn, wake up! You're gonna be late for school," Mark yelled into Lyn's ear.
Hearing the word "school" caused Lyn to jump out of bed, grab clothes from her closet, and rush to the bathroom.
It was 6:30 in the morning and Lyn was supposed to get up an hour ago. She quickly showered and got changed, putting her hair into a towel so that it would dry faster.
She rushed downstairs with Mark practically lecturing her about how she should've made an alarm the night before.
"Oh shush, Mark. I already know what I should have done," Lyn snapped back.
"Someone jumped out of the wrong side of the bed this morning," Mark muttered, but Lyn still heard and she glared at Mark.
Mark put her hands up in the air "I'll just wait in my car. I knew you weren't a morning person, but I didn't think you were that hostile."
And with that Mark went to her car.Lyn hurriedly went into her dining room and grabbed her back pack the container filled with the noodles her mother made the night before. She put on her black converse high tops, took the towel out of her hair grabbing a brush too, and jumped into Mark's car.
"And the color of converse today is... Black!" Mark announced. Lyn had a large collection of converse since her dad worked at the company for a while.
Mark smiled and shouted, "Let's rock junior year!"
Mark was Lyn's best friend. She, yes, Mark is a girl was taken in by Lyn's family 10 years ago when Lyn's parents found out that Mark was previously living in bad conditions.
They arrived at Korican High School and Mark parked close to the building.
Lyn quickly fixed her hair and the two entered the school and went to the office to grab their schedule. When they entered the office, 13 pairs of eyes turned to them and the room fell silent.
"Um... We're here to pick up our schedules," Mark said breaking the silence.
"I'll get them for you since there are a lot of students here and the counselors are quite busy. What are your names?" the secretary lady answered pulling up our schedule on her computer.
"Marciel and Lyn Ryu," Mark responded.
Lyn looked at the 13 boys. She recognized some of them. They transferred here last year too which is why Lyn and Mark weren't really noticed as the new kids. They all were in the same grade as Lyn and Mark.
"Here are your schedules!" The lady smiled and handed them the schedule. "Have a great first day!"
Lyn smiled back glancing at the lady's name plate. "Thank you Mrs. Muneio."
Mark and Lyn stepped out of the office and immediately started comparing schedules.
"Okay so we have 1A, 4A, and 3B together which is chemistry, free period, and calculus," Mark stated. "Let's head to class and we'll meet up at our usual stop during lunch and 4."
They walked to chemistry together and found two open seats close to the middle of the room. The front was where the teacher could always see you and the back was where all the troublemakers stayed, so Lyn and Mark thought the middle was always perfect. There was still 15 minutes till class actually started, so Lyn started eating her breakfast noodles.
"Hey, Lyn?" Mark asked.
"Yeah," Lyn answered with her mouth half-full.
"Do you remember any of those guys' names?" She questioned referring to the 13 in the office.
