Yes, she may apply to all your clichés,
but just because she wants to get away
from this old place
doesn't mean there's not enough space
left in her heart for you.You might think she'll leave
but just because you perceive her
as a story.
She's worried.
Worried that you're not in love.
That one day you'll have enough
and leave her.Just because she wipes
her eyes each morning
doesn't mean she's
not learning
to love herself.
As if it something that can be taught.
If you thought
telling her repeatedly
she has nothing to be depressed about
will solve the anything,
you're sadly mistaken.
She's not wakin' up
like this
for you to blow it off.In the classroom she doesn't fit.
She's a mix of
"What time is it?"
and
"Hey, can I borrow a pencil?"At home she's the
troubled sibling,
missing some things
that boys are supposed to like.
"Maybe if you tried a bit harder."
Don't make her
some kind of martyr
because she doesn't practice the religion
of bending over the toilet.
She'd rather
puke her guts out
into poetry.
What worries me
the most
is that people will think
She doesn't understand
eating disorders.
The boarders
of her imagination
are not ignorant
to the implantation
of societies
screwed up ideas of beauty.
To me
even though
she fits into clichés
not classes,
at least she gets passes
for her absences.
She's not skipping school
or doing crack
she's not about all that.So when she says
she loves you.
I hope you know
it's true.
And how few
times she's said that in her life.
And to her it may not feel
completely right.
But at night when she's crying
at least tell me you're trying
to calm her down.
because one day she'll
leave.
And until then
she's been saving up
her courage.
Don't make her waste it
on asking you if you love her.
Tell her.
Before it's too late.
