Kaiju Classroom Lesson 1: Gods and Goddesses

Description: Kaiju Classroom is a side-series where the characters from Godzilla Warriors talk about the lore of the series. In this instalment, Mothra and Battra talk about their species, lineage, and who they are. Inspired by the Classroom Gem shorts from Steven Universe.

Hello, there! I'm Mothra, and today I'm going to tell you all about my species and lineage. My brother Battra is here to help.

Do I have to do this?

Yes. It's your species too, you know. *Ahem* Like the rest of our species, me and my brothers are actually descendants of the ancient Japanese gods, making us gods and goddesses ourselves. Though there are some differences. For example, we're not immortal. While is is tragic, eventually we will die, though we do live a lot longer than humans. And we can be killed like any mortal creature. Believe me, I know first hand.

Another difference is that we don't have our god-like powers immediately at birth. At age 13, we must prove ourselves by completing a certain task or go on a journey. Once this is done, we gain the ability to wield our weapon of choice, and we can also fly and use our other powers. Since our lineage primarily had control over nature, our journeys must result in us learning to protect the world in some way.

I completed mine after I joined Godzilla and defeated someone who was trying to harm the Earth. ...That someone may or may not have been Battra.

For the record, I was trying to protect the world by killing Godzilla.

Battra!

I'll admit, I was wrong. But my initial plan did help me complete my journey, so I guess it wasn't all bad.

*Sigh* Anyway, we aren't allowed to receive help from other family members on our journeys. Our older brother, Leo, had to leave for me to complete my journey. However, we are allowed to receive some help. Obviously, I received help from Godzilla, but also from the Shobijin, two fairies who were telepathically connected to my mother. While these two aren't goddesses themselves, they've been the guardians of my lineage for many years. Because I inherited my goddess role from my mother, the Shobijin are connected to me now. They can be a little annoying, but they help me out when I need it.

Speaking of family, our lineage has a big impact as to who we are, and our future generations. If a god and a goddess have children together, like our parents did, the children are guaranteed to be gods. However, if a god or goddess had children with a different species, like a human for example, the child might not have the powers of a god. There are actually many Kaiju who are descendants of gods, but aren't pure gods themselves. Our family is actually the longest line of pure gods in history. However, if Mothra's new relationship is any indication, that line may be broken soon.

What?.. Wait, are you implying that me and Godzilla... n-no, we haven't done anything like that yet!

What do you mean "yet?"

*Blushing intensifies* T-that's not what I meant! I mean... i-i-it's not like I don't want to... n-not right now at least... but w-we haven't even been together that long! It's to early to think about... that... right now!

*Snicker* Okay, I think I'm done for now.

*Exasperated groan* Oh god, I hope Godzilla doesn't see this.

Anyway, the order of children a god and goddess will have is pre-determined. There's always twins, one boy and one girl, but in rare cases there may be a single child born before them. This is the case with our brother, Leo. Even if a god or goddess has children with a different species they are almost guaranteed to have twins. So Mothra, you and Godzilla have that to look foreword to.

AAAAH OH MY GOD SHUT UP I HATE YOU.

*Laughs* This is way more fun than I thought it would be.

That's it, I'm ending this train wreck. Why did I think this would be a good idea?

Wait, isn't there more to talk about?

Oh yeah, there's still a little bit. *Ahem* While most of our powers are derived from is being gods, we can actually unlock new powers depending on the circumstances. For example, after absorbing a large amount of energy to resurrect myself from the dead (long story), I got the ability to fire energy from my hands in different forms and create massive arcs of fire that can take out many targets at once. What powers do you have Battra?

I can shoot lasers.

...Really? That's cool.

Yeah it is.

We also share some powers as well. We can both fly, we can both spit webbing, and we can sometimes get visions of future or present events going on in the world. We can also share these visions through blue holographic windows.

Well, that's not all. We each have a Rainbow Form, an extremely powerful form of ourself which drastically increases our powers. We can only unlock with form once we draw enough energy from the Earth. Leo's the only one out of all of us who's unlocked this form.
