Kaiju Classroom Lesson 3: Ancients

Description: In this installment of Kaiju Classroom, Godzilla and Muto discuss Kaiju who have been around since ancient times, even before the dinosaurs.

Hey there. I'm Godzilla.

I'm Muto. Pleased to meet you.

Today, Muto and I are going to tell you about a certain group of Kaiju, one which Muto and I both belong to... wait, Muto, how are you here? Shouldn't you be in the Shatterdome?

This is non-canon. Don't worry about it.

As you may know, there are 6 classified types of Kaiju; Gods and Goddesses, Aliens, Robots/Cyborgs, Demigods, Mutants, and various species from pre-historic times. We call these Kaiju "Ancients", and we're going to talk about them today.

Let's start with my species. We've existed since the same time as the dinosaurs. Like many other Ancients, my species evolved to absorb the radiation on Earth. While we needed radiation to survive, it also had strange affects on us. Basically once we consumed enough radiation, we unlocked powers, like the ones I have now, but much weaker. Millions of years later, Gojira, my dad, was hit by the radiation caused by the atomic bombing Hiroshima. He consumed so much radiation that he gained more power than any of our species. I guess this transferred into me.

We were similar. Rather than feeding on the radiation of Earth, my species evolved to keep Godzilla's species in check; we killed them and fed on the radiation within their bodies like parasites. However, because Godzilla's species were much stronger, this lead to them hunting and killing us as a food source. We also had powers. Once we absorbed enough radiation, we gained the power to cause electromagnetic pulses. Nowadays, I mainly use EMPs to knock out things powered by electricity, though it gives me a really bad headache. I'm not quite sure what my species used them for back then.

Anguirus and Rodan are also Ancients. They're pretty similar to the both of our species, but with pretty obvious differences. Anguirus' species didn't absorb radiation like ours, but they evolved to make up for this with super strength. Seriously, Anguirus could destroy me if it weren't for my own powers. Rodan's species could absorb radiation, but much differently. Rather than absorbing it from the Earth, or other creatures, Rodan's species absorbed heat radiation from the sun. Because of this, they actually taught themselves how to fly so they could get closer to the sun. They did this by using radiation to manipulate the air molecules around them to carry themselves through the air... I don't know how it works either.

Actually, that reminds me. With my species, the males and females are very different. Like Rodan's species, the males use the radiation they absorb to fly. To contrast this, they aren't very strong. Females are almost exactly opposite. We can't fly, but were much stronger. This trait continues with my species even today, as even though I can't fly, I'm still much stronger than Hokmuto, that lying, deceitful, sexist piece of...

Um, Muto? Are you okay?

Yeah, fine, whatever, just... keep talking.

...Sure... Anyway, other Ancients you may be familiar with are Zilla and Komodithrax. Believe it or not, they're both the same species as me. The only difference is that they absorbed less radiation than me and my dad, so they have different powers than me. Don't worry, while we may be the same species, we're not all related ... I don't think.

Another Ancient is Titanosaurus, who I've never met. All I know is that he's not on our side.

Oh yeah, he showed up with SpaceGodzilla. From what I know, he's probably the oldest of all Ancients. His species have incredibly long lifespans, partially because they go into century-long hibernations every couple decades. Overall, they're pretty similar to my species, though they preferred water over land. Last time I saw him, he got knocked out by Mothra. I wonder what happened to him...

Also, I guess King Kong is also an Ancient, though he's a very different story. He's technically a hybrid of an Ancient and a Demigod, but I'm sure we'll get to talking about him later.
