Summary: Godzilla finds a cardboard box with something special inside.
It was a fairly normal Saturday on Monster Island. Nobody was really doing anything, and it didn't seem like anything else was going to happen. Due to the warm weather, Godzilla was on the beach, sitting and looking out at the waves. From the side, he heard footsteps, and turned to face where they were coming from. Rodan was running towards him, holding something in his hands. Something large and cube-shaped. Anguirus was close behind him. As they approached Godzilla, he stood up to greet them.
"Guys, what's up with the box?" He asked. The others eventually reached him, and seemed out of breath.
"You're never gonna believe this." Rodan said. He sounded like he didn't know wether to be happy or concerned.
"We found it washed up on the shore a little while ago." Anguirus explained. "Once we saw what was inside, we immediately went to find you."
"What's in it?" Godzilla asked.
Rodan put the box down, but hesitated before unveiling what was inside. Finally, he opened it, and Godzilla knelt down to see what they were freaking out about. His eyes widened as he saw the box's contents. It popped out of the box and licked his face along with a tiny bark. It was a dog. A small puppy. At first glance, it looked like a husky, or similar breed, and was primarily white, grey, and black in colour. Godzilla was dumfounded.
"Right?" Rodan said.
"I... uh... how did it get here?" Godzilla asked.
"Dunno. We just found it." Anguirus said. "What should we do with it?"
Godzilla picked the dog up and held it in front of his face. Again, it licked his nose. He couldn't deny, the dog was cute. But another thought went through his mind. After thinking for a few seconds, he came to a decision.
"Well, we can't keep him." He said. "With all the crap going on with Ghidorah, and all the attacks we've had to deal with recently, he'd just be put in danger."
He handed the dog to Rodan. "Aww, but he's so cute!" He complained.
"I know, but he'd just be a liability." Godzilla explained. "We'll find him a good home, don't worry."
"Hmm... Maybe we should get Mothra's opinion on this." Anguirus smirked. Godzilla's eyes widened. If Mothra saw the dog, she'd most likely start gushing over how cute it is and demand they keep it. Godzilla couldn't let her find out.
"No, no, no, do not tell her!" He ordered, but Rodan had already taken off. Godzilla glared at Anguirus, who simply shrugged back.
"You'd better follow him." He said. "If Mothra sees it, she might let it have your side of the bed." Godzilla groaned in annoyance and ran after Rodan, with Anguirus running close behind. There was no way he was gonna miss out on this."Oh my god, what!?" Mothra squealed as Rodan handed her the dog.
"Yeah, we found him in a box on the beach." Rodan said. Mothra laughed as the dog began to lick her face. Rodan laughed as well. "He seems to like you." he continued.
"Well, I absolutely love him!" Mothra said. She hugged the dog closely and nuzzled it. "Have you figured out a name for him yet?"
Rodan was about to answer, until Godzilla burst through the door. He cringed and groaned silently as he saw Mothra holding the dog. He realized it was already too late. The second Mothra saw him, she ran up to him with a big smile on her face, clutching the dog in her arms.
"Godzilla, did you know about this?" She asked, holding the dog up to him.
"Yeah... I did." He replied. Mothra gasped and smiled wider, as if she had just realized something.
"That's it! I figured out a name for him!" She said. "How about 'Dogzilla'?"
"I like it." Rodan said. Godzilla silently glared at him. He could also hear Anguirus snickering in the background. Mothra noticed his expression, and her smile fell.
"What's wrong?" She asked. "We can think up another name if you don't like it."
"It's not the name." Godzilla said.
"Well then what's the big deal?" Mothra asked.
"Mothra... we can't keep the dog." Godzilla admitted. Mothra's expression dropped, and her eyebrows drooped. She held the dog a bit tighter.
"Why not?" She asked.
"Because it... with all the stuff that's going on... we just..." He tried to explain, but he couldn't with the way Mothra looked at him. The dog itself was also making it difficult. Both of them were just so cute with their literal and figurative puppy-dog eyes.
"C'mon, Mothra. Quit looking at me like that." Godzilla said. He tried to look away from her gaze. It was making it hard for him to argue.
"But, Godzilla, where else is he gonna go?" Mothra asked.
"We'll find him a home." Godzilla assured. "I'm sorry, Mothra. We just can't keep a dog on Monster Island." Mothra looked at the ground. She hesitated for a few seconds before she suddenly looked up at him and glared. A sly smirk grew on her face.
"You'll have to catch him first!" She said. Before Godzilla could react, she tossed the dog on the ground behind him, where it landed on it's feet. "Run, Dogzilla!" She shouted. As if on cue, the dog took off out the door. Before he ran after it, Godzilla looked at Mothra with a raised eyebrow. He couldn't believe she had just done that. He was starting to get irritated with her.
"Really?" He said. Mothra flashed a smile that was a mixture of cute and smug.
"Better go catch him." She mocked. Godzilla complied and took off out the door, following the dog. Mothra chuckled, but Rodan crossed his arms.
"You do realize he's gonna catch him, right?" He said. "I mean, it's a tiny puppy running from Godzilla. He's got no chance."
Mothra's smile fell again. "I know."
