It's Christmas Eve, and, when none of the boys apart from Rin turn up to the Christmas party Nitori invited them all to, the two teens have to entertain themselves in other ways.
Saturday the 24th of December.
Nitori sat at his desk that afternoon, tapping his pencil between his teeth. The pencil, the clock and his feet were the only things making noise in his room.
3pm. Two hours until Rin, Haruka, Nagisa, Rei and Momo should arrive.
The anticipation, the wait for their arrival clung onto the back of Nitori, nagging him, constantly reminding him of it. He went about the day buying snack-y foods and christmas decorations, cleaning up around his house.
At 4pm he went to his parent's house with the decorations and the food; the place where the party was set.
The air was crisp and bit at his skin. He wrapped his arms around himself and buried his face into his scarf, inhaling the sweet scent of the hot chocolate he spilt on it the other night.
When he got to the door, the grey haired boy gently knocked his glove covered fist against the hard wood.
"It's me!" He chirped, again burying his face into the scarf. The tip of his nose grew a cute red shade.
Two much older looking people answered the door. One, the mother, was dressed in a cute, knee length pink skirt with a grey blouse, her hair styled like and layered. Also grey.
The other, the father, was dressed in cream coloured trousers and a blue shirt, the top three buttons undone. His grey hair was cut short, in a W style.
The mother instantly wrapped her arms around her small son, burying his face into the crook of her shoulder. She stroked the back of his head. "Arn't I glad to see you, Nitori! You look so cold - and kind of sick, are you okay?"
Her voice dripped with worry.
"Yes, yes, I'm fine, mum," Nitori blushed and shuffled his way into the house he grew up in, feeling slightly nostalgic at the sight of it all.
The small family sat in the living room for the next two or so hours, warm hot chocolates and marshmallows around. The atmosphere was very light, and Nitori's dad didn't even pester him about getting a job and 'becoming a man'.
Just before the clock his seven, the dad went to the loo. Nitori's mum took this chance to pull him to the side, a mischevious smile planted on her lips.
"Is he coming tonight?" She asked, her voice like a school girl.
Nitori's face lit up red as he pushed her away, folding his arms and looking to the side.
"Oh, c'moooooon!" She grabbed onto and shook his shoulder, begging to find out the answer.
The boy she was talking about could only be one person - Rin goddamn Matsuoka. Just over a year ago Nitori slipped up around his mum and she found out about the crush the boy had been festering for the other. She instantly caught onto it and 'helped' him inch just that little bit closer into becoming Rin's number one.
This was one of those times.
"Yes," the boy mumbled, pouting. "I doubt he'll come anyway. He has a family of his own."
The mother hugged her son. "Awww, my boy, it'll be okay, he'll come. I promise!"

19:15.
Nitori sat alone in his parent's living room. He sat behind five presents, all sizes varied. Each one had a label reading one of the names of his friends that were supposed to be coming to his party - but where were they?
