It was a cold day for school. Like usual, my mother would give me a cup of powdery water before I went to school. I gulp down the whole glass of water and flung my backpack straps over my shoulders and took off, running in the cold.
I watched as each breath of air transformed into vapor as I exhaled. My boots kicked at the snow as I struggled to run."Hey,"greeted a boy that went to my school, his name was Roy, he's really nice and he has a cute smile.
"Oh, hi Roy,"I greeted back, smiling.
"How was your-," Roy was interrupted by someone behind him.
'Ring Ring' A sound of a bike bell rang from behind. We both turned our head around to see who it was.
"Hey, get outta the way will ya?" Jackson commented coldly, he seemed annoyed.
He could only walk his bicycle as he was unable to ride in the snow but he used the bike bell to remind people that there was a bicycle behind them and he could run it over you in any second.
Jackson was wearing a warm jumper with jeans. One of his hands was on the side of the steering wheel and one inside his pocket. He had a stern look on his face, showing no signs of happiness.
Without finishing his question, Roy gave me a look that suggested 'be careful with this kid ' and quickly left us while running the opposite direction. He didn't know Jackson well and it was easy to notice that he didn't really like him.
"Hey," Jackson said cheerfully, his expression changed almost instantly.
I walked off, ignoring him. I couldn't believe he could be like this.
"Hey hey hey," he laughed, reaching to hold onto my wrist to stop me from going.
He grabbed onto my wrist tightly, not letting me go. His hand was warm as he just pulled it out of his pocket. I stopped and shook him off.
"Hey, why are you angry at me," he laughed again and seemed like he didn't understand. "Is it because I scared Roy off?" he asked, emphasizing the word 'scared'.
"C'mon, it was a only a joke," he said as he slowly let go off my wrist to support his bike.
"Well, you really suck at telling jokes," I replied, and continued walking to school.
"Oooh, that's a nice joke, I like it," he chuckled and began walking his bike next to me.
Jackson and I walked to school together talking about the most random topics that came in mind. The trip actually wasn't too awkward this time but because we talked too much, we were late to school.
We were both sent to the office by our teachers, which I normally would think was a bad thing, but I actually didn't mind it today. We were in different classes so it took me longer to reach the office but Jackson waited for me in the hallway so we could walk together.
"H-hey what happens if we get in trouble?" I questioned Jackson, as we walked together, I was getting a bit nervous about this because I've never really been late to school.
"No big deal, we usually just clean the playground at lunch," he shrugged and smiled to reassure me, although I wasn't convinced.
When we arrived, the office ladies told Jackson to go to the principal's office because he had been late for the past two weeks of school. I watched as Jackson's calm smile faded away, I knew that he was nervous by his expression. I was told to sit and wait while they find out what my punishment was. After a while of waiting, I was informed that I had to go to the principal's office as well, I was terrified. I've never been to the principal's office, I even struggled to find where it was.
I was so nervous that I rushed into his office and opened the door without knocking. The principal was in the middle of his sentence and I've just barged in without knocking on the door. He lowered his glasses like an old man and peered at my face, he frowned. Jackson turned around to see me, he turned his worried face into a calm face again and gave me a warm smile.
"Do you not have manners, young woman?"asked the principal as he continues to stare at my face.
"S-sorry, I-I was in a h-hurry and then I just ran in a-and I-,"I stumbled on nearly every word I said, my mouth was trembling as I spoke. "I'm r-really sorry tha-,"I stopped when the principal gave me a gesture suggesting me to stop.
I wasn't thinking of what I was doing so I went out of the room, closed the door and knocked again. When I came in the room again, the principal gave me a strange look and Jackson began laughing, while having his back facing the principal so that he couldn't see.
"Stand next to Jackson and please explain to me why you were late," the principal spoke in a stern voice.
My mind was blank, I didn't know what to say, I didn't even know how I was late. So I looked at Jackson, begging him to answer the principal's question. Luckily he got the message and began to speak for me.
"She was-" he began but he jumped in fright as the principal slammed his palm onto the table.
"I DIDN'T ASK YOU TO ANSWER!!" the principal yelled.
My heart of beating so fast that I think I would explode in any second. My mouth and my hands were trembling so much. Jackson must have seen my hand trembling so he held tightly onto my hand again. I don't know why but his hand must have some magical powers or something, every time he holds onto me, I feel secured and fearless.
"I forgot to take my medication this morning so I had to spend some time to take it, Jackson helped me search for it in my house and then we had to wait for my car to get started because it was too cold outside, that was why we're both late," I lied.
I lied. I lied. I've never lied at school before. And I have certainly not lied to the principal. I don't know what is happening to me, I seem like another person. I'm not the Clara I used to be anymore. From the second I met Jackson, I've changed... But why am I changing??
As we walked out of the office Jackson thanked me for helping him.
"By the way, do you actually take medicine?" Jackson questioned curiously.
"U-um, no, no, n-not anymore," I stammered, no one knew that I've been taking medication since I was born as my mother once stated that it would lead to all kinds of trouble.
"That's good, your a healthy kid,"Jackson smiled.
We were nearly back at our classrooms when Jackson realised that he was still holding onto my hand. He quickly let go, "S-sorry," he apologized and awkwardly sprinted back into his class.

At lunch I was with my best friend, chibimaruko6, like usual.
"Oh my gosh Clara, did you know that Roy spoke to me today?" she exclaimed, she was so excited because she's been having a crush on him since grade 7 and we are already in grade 10 now.
"Really?!" I reply back, trying to sound as excited as I can, although my brain keeps having flashbacks of the events that had occurred this morning.
"Yesss, he said hi to me... twice!!"fangirled chibimaruko6, she stood up to describe how Roy said it to her.
chibimaruko6 immediately sat back down when Jackson suddenly came to sit with us. He sat down on a silver seat opposite me and stared at me silently, creating a really awkward atmosphere...
