My mother, Jackson and I walked into the house one by one.

"Make yourself at home," my mum smiled as she turned on the lights and gave Jackson a cup of tea.

We all sit around our guest table in the living room. Jackson took a sip of his tea and made himself comfortable on the couch.

"So... your name is Jackson, am I correct?" my mum questioned.

"Ah, yes Mrs Chan, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Jackson, Jackson Yi," Jackson introduced himself while he placed his cup onto the table.

"Oh... that's a nice name," my mum said slowly and gave a smile.

"Yeah, I got it for my birthday, I quite like it too," Jackson commented jokingly and it caused another awkward silence.

"...Well, what class are you in, Clara's class?" my mum tried to start up a new topic.

"We are in the same grade but different class," I say quickly. "I- I think we should send Jackson home, his mum will be waiting for him," I continued.

"Oh, no no, my parents are still at work and they come back after I have dinner so, I can stay for longer," Jackson said.

'Ugh,Jackson why are you so stupid?? Can't you co-operate with me for once?' I thought in my brain, I really wanted to say that to him but I don't think now is the appropriate time.

"Do you want to have dinner here?" my mum offered, she was expecting the answer to be no because that's what normal people say, especially on their first time going to someone's house... right?

"Oh, yes please Mrs Chan, I hate cooking myself," Jackson nodded and grinned at me excitedly.

"Uh, so, tell me more about yourself, because I haven't heard Clara talk about you at all," My mum continued without saying yes after his comment. "How'd you meet my daughter?"

"Oh we literally met a few days ago and we started dating legit 2 seconds ago," Jackson laughed and took another sip of tea.

"O-oh... that's interesting..." My mum forced a little smile and shifted the focus of her eyes from Jackson to me. She gave me a look that meant 'is this kid even safe?'.

I face-palmed myself after Jackson's comment and I shook my head in frustration.

"I feel dizzy can I go and sleep?" I asked, not expecting a response and left.

"Oh, do you want me to go with you?" Jackson offered.

"No! I think you should stay where you are, thanks," I said and I locked myself in my bedroom trying to process all this information.

He's so embarrassing, I want to push him out of my house.

---

By the time I woke up I looked out the window. It was still night, the street lights were dim and the moonlight reflected on the window opposite my house. The lights were closed but the curtains remained opened. That silly boy must have forgotten to close his curtains before he slept. I glanced at the clock next to my bed, it read 3:47 AM. I've skipped dinner and now my stomach was rumbling. I climbed out of bed and walked out of my bedroom. Outside of my bedroom was the dining room, it was filled with silence and was pitch black. I slowly crept up to the kitchen which was connected to the dining room. I opened the fridge, the cold colored light of the fridge illuminated the kitchen. I quickly pulled out a bar of chocolate, unwrapped it and stuffed it in my mouth, while doing that I accidentally knocked over an egg.

Crack!

"Argh!" I silently screamed and immediately covered my mouth.

'Oh my gosh Clara why are you so clumsy??' I silently asked myself.

"WHO ARE YOU?" my mum yelled as she grabbed a spatula from the nearby surroundings.

I raised both of my arms up to tell her that I'm harmless. The chocolate was too big for my mouth so half was sticking out, it was starting to melt.

"Ugh Clara, if your hungry you can just tell me!" my mum exclaimed as she stomped towards me.

"Oh yuck!! What is this?!" she screamed as she lifted her leg up.

There was egg yolk and shell under her feet.

"Um, sorry I kinda.. knocked it over? Hehehe," I say and I laughed embarrassingly.

"Clara, turn on the light!" my mum yelled.

I turned the light on and realized how tired she was by her dark circles under her eyes. I also noticed how annoyed she is right now with the wrinkles that sat on her forehead, it only appeared when she's angry.

"Sorry," I apologized as I rushed to get the broom.

We spent the whole time cleaning up and eating until dawn.
