Jackson sat down on the silver seat opposite of me and stared at me. He wasn't a popular kid at our school therefore he didn't have many friends. He used to sit next to his friend, Leo Wu but they didn't really talk to each other much as Leo had different likings from Jackson so they didn't have many topics to talk about.
Shirley (chibimaruko6) nudged me gently and shifted her eyes at Jackson.
"Who is he?" she whispered as softly as possible.
No one really knew Jackson well, although we have been in the same grade for many years. That explained why I had only just learnt his name a few days ago.
"I am Jackson, Jackson Yi, and its not nice to meet you, you're talking about me when I'm right in front of you, how rude," he says in a stern voice.
Shirley did not quite like his attitude towards her. She shuffled a little to my side while sitting on the seat. She displayed her expression of discomfort with a frown on her face.
"Next time if you want to talk about me, please talk behind my back, where its not as obvious for me to notice, thank you," Jackson continued speaking and gave a rather fake smile after his sentence.
Roy was standing a few metres away from us, listening to Jackson's rude comments. He seemed like he wanted to argue with him but he chose to remain silent.
"Clara, look, Roy's over there, I'm going to go to him now, you can handle this crazy guy, good luck," she whispered and then scurried off with her bag and rushed to Roy.
"Bye!" Jackson exclaimed as he watch Shirley leave.
"Ahh, its us two again, how'd you like my joke? Very funny? I found it quite amusing," Jackson said as he moved to sit next to me.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. Very funny," I say sarcastically and I turned away from him, disgusted of his actions.
"Yes, you should know how lucky you are to have met a funny guy like me," Jackson exclaimed as he fiddled with something on the ground. "Here, since your so lucky, have this four leaf clover," Jackson handed me a pile of grass that he had just pulled out from the ground.
"Ew!" I picked up the grass and bits of soil on it and chucked it inside Jackson's clothes.
"Arghh, it tickles," he said laughing and we both broke into a laughing attack.
When we both stopped laughing Jackson stared into my eyes again.
"What are you trying to do now? A staring contest?" I question, focusing on his eyes.
"Nope," he replied.
"Then can you please stop staring at me like that? It's so creepy you know," I commented and I pulled my eyes away from his.
"No its just that..." he paused as if he couldn't find the words to describe what he wanted to say.
"It's just that what? Oh my gosh do I have something on my face or something?" I asked, and I began frantically wiping my face with my hands.
"No, stop," he says, slowly. He looked at all over my face. "You're really beautiful you know?" he says softly.
"Jackson, this is a mean joke, you know," I responded and I crossed my arms.
"No... I'm serious, has no one ever told you that your beautiful?"
"No...," I reply, I felt really happy to hear this but I'm also nervous about this, what is he going to do next?
"You know, I've never met another person like you before, I've never met someone whose inside is as beautiful as their outside, thanks for being my friend," he says with a soft voice, he gave a warm smile and left.
'What the heck...?' I thought to myself. Everything he said did nothing but made me confused and a bit disappointed because maybe I was expecting more.
---
"Mum, I'm home!!" I yelled as I kicked my shoes off and skipped to my bedroom.
I felt so strange after what Jackson told me. Is this what normal people feel like after some random boy tells you that your beautiful? I felt like I am filled with mixed emotions, I'm happy but also scared, I'm excited but also nervous. I couldn't explain the emotion that I'm currently feeling. I felt sick, I lied down on my bed. I felt sorry for all the normal girls who have experienced this, I wanted to be the sick girl again, the girl who didn't have to worry about boys and love.
*Knock knock*
"Come in," I said as I sat up."Hey, Clara, you okay?" my mum asked, she came in and sat up on my bed.
"Yeah... its just that..."I paused, trying to find the correct words, "I- I think I'm sick... I- I don't feel like the old Clara anymore, maybe its because I've stopped taking my medicine," I shook my head and pressed my palm onto my forehead.
"Clara, um... how do you feel?" Mum questioned me, but she felt like she was hiding something.
"I want to go to doctor Sue again to have a check up," I told my mum.
"Okay then," she nodded." I'll take you there tomorrow," she left the room.
