Alice's POV

I awoke to the blaring noise of my alarm. I forgot today was Monday. Can I just pretend I'm a corpse and lay here forever? But then I wouldn't be able to see Alex. He is the most adorable thing ever. I think I might like him.

My phone made a horrible ding noise. Oh, a text.

'Hey. Come outside. I'll bring you to the bus stop.'

Alex's text read. Dammit, how was I supposed to get ready so quickly? Whatever, I just put on a white tank top, some skinny jeans, my red converse and Alex's flannel. It smelled like him, I like it.

I quickly brushed my faded hair and grabbed my gray backpack. I rushed down the stairs and outside where I could see Alex looking over at me with his one hazel eye, his hair covering the other one.

"What took you so long?" He smiled.

"I had just woken up?" My answer sounded more like a question.

"Alright. Let's just go."

He adjusted his black and red checkered backpack on his shoulder and walked to the end of the block where some other kids were standing.

A girl with blonde hair, super tan skin, green eyes, and a pink shirt with jean shorts stood at the corner. No aspect of her personality looked like able. Her posture was terrible, I could tell she was on edge about something. Eyes tell a story, as Alex once told me.

Someone stood near a bush, clutching his bag to his chest. He had shaggy, but short, brown hair poking out from under his beanie, and he was wearing a dark blue shirt with jeans and yellow converse. He looked like he ran the whole way here, too.

As if on cue, the answer to my observation approached me. A flock of jocks were walking towards the stop. (Hehe. Rhymes.)

"New meat?" A tall, broad shouldered, blonde boy with like 18 zits on his face abruptly poked my shoulder.

Alex pulled me close to him and gave ol' Zit Face a look that read 'fuck off.' The way he flicked his eyebrows.

"Ohhh. So little Alex has a girlfriend." Another jock said in a mocking tone. He was short and Hispanic. I don't know why he was calling Alex little.

"Too bad all he could do was find a piece of scene trash."

That comment hurt me. I could feel my shocked face heating up from embarrassment.

"She is not scene trash! She is the most beautiful, thoughtful, and outstanding girl I've ever met!"

Everyone gasped. Except me, Alex said he didn't talk at all. So why would he say something like this in public.

"Did.. Did you just talk?"

Zit Face looked like he just found out his girlfriend was pregnant. Weird metaphor, I guess.

Alex shrugged him off as the rectangular, yellow school bus that read number '73' on it. He grabbed my hand which made me blush a little, and pulled me onto the rubber smelling bus.

We sat near the back, he still hasn't let go of my hand. But that's okay, I liked it.

"Oh! Sorry.."

He let go of my hand and tried to adjust his hair so it would hide his obvious rosy cheeks on his ghostly pale skin.

"It's okay." I smile.

He had told me that he's socially awkward, so my mission is to stop his hyperventilating in the hallways, and his nervous breakdowns.

The bus skidded to a stop and all of the children stood up. It was extremely synchronized, everyone stood up at once.

Alex guided me to the office, where I was assigned my classes.

"What do you know? You've got my schedule." He winked at me.

After the hallway that smelled like ass, the annoyingly creaky, small lockers, and the asshole students, we finally made it to History. Our teacher Mr. Lupton was the worst. He always eats cheese sticks, and he never leaves his chair. He uses a laser pointer to point at things. So Alex told me we call him Mr. Lumpton.

After history we had English, then Art, then Math, then Lunch, then PE. And then finally home.

Math was easy, copy down notes, do homework.

English, there was this bitch in my class. She had black hair with red streaks in them. But they were faded so they looked terrible. And she wore flower printed fake glasses. She. Wouldn't. Leave. Me. Alone. She was fucking terrified of Alex though.

Art was fun, we were doing a group project though. It was sort of sucky.

Lunch! Mm. Lunch. There was chicken nuggets or pizza. So naturally I went to pizza. Shorter line. Alex was sitting at an empty table with his lunch.

"Did you get chicken nuggets?"

"HEY! YOURE NEVER TOO OLD FOR CHICKEN NUGGERS."

He screeched at me with a mouth full of chicken.

"Jesus, okay." I took a bite of my pizza.

"So we can go outside but I don't want to so meh." Alex shrugged

"Good because I didn't want to either."

He laughed slightly, probably not wanting to choke on his 'Chicken Nuggers' his laugh was so beautiful, it just made me want to kiss him.

Wait, what?

I can't like Alex, right? I just met him yesterday. And.. Even if I did.. He wouldn't feel the same way. Ugh. Why do I have to be so ugly?

"Alice."

I stared into his one Hazel eye that was showing.

"You blinked." Alex whispered at me, then smiled slightly.

"Also, it's PE time. Let's not be late."
