Alex's POV

I hate dodgeball. I hate the words "Time to pick teams!" I hate PE. I hate school. I hate people. Except for Alice.

I stood in the corner, watching as Alice pelts people with red rubber murder balls. It was quite amusing. She had good aim.

A murder ball flew towards me, but I caught it. I think I surprised everyone in the room. Sports aren't really my thing, y'know?

Watching some chick scrunch up her face and sit on the bleachers was the best feeling ever. Other than seeing her get hit with a murder ball too.

I looked over to my left at a guy with a white and black striped hoodie. I couldn't really remember his name. He threw a murder ball at one of the people on the other team. But they caught it. Off stripes goes.

I look at Alice, everything looked like it was in slow motion. A murder ball was headed right towards her. I'm not sure if you know, but they fucking hurt.

I run over to Alice and stand in front of her, letting the ball hit my chest and upper stomach. I'm out.

"Alex! Are you okay?"

Alice looks at me. I just shrug, duh it hurt. But I felt like I was gonna puke. So I walked up to the bleachers and sat next to stripes.

He was wearing sweatpants, and he had messy brown hair too.

"Jack." His voice was rough.

He extended his hand out to me.

"Alex." My voice cracked.

"Nice to meet you, man."

I cringed.

"I'm a female." I deadpanned.

"But you look so..." Jack trailed off.

"Yeah yeah, I know." I squinted.

"Ah quick! That girls looking at us! Act natural!" Jack frantically whisper-yells in my ear.

"That's an oxymoron."

"A...what..?" Jack looks utterly confused by my statement.

I raise an eyebrow. "You know what? Never mind."

I can tell I already do not like this person. And he smells like pie. It's a terrible smell. I scoot away from him and focus on Alice. She's dodging murder balls-- or never mind. She was hit. I could see her frown, and she trudged up to the bleachers. Her frown, however faded when she saw me. She sat next to me and wiped her sweaty forehead on my shoulder.

"Why the FUCK would you do that?" I screech at her and earn some weird looks from the other children in the room.

"I don't know." She giggled. "I wanted to see your reaction."

I squint at her. "You're lucky I love you." I mumble.

"What?"

Shit. Did she hear me?

Probably. Way to go.

"Oh.. Nothing." I know she heard me.

"Okay.." She looked down for a second.

"Am I missing something important?"

A third voice comes in. Jack.

Alice looks a little weirded out but she just flicks him on the nose.

"WOOO PE IS OVER!" Jack and the rest of the class rush out of the school. But I calmly make my way out of the school with Alice.

"So about what you said earlier?"

"...nothing. I didn't say anything. Isn't the sky beautiful today?"

I succeed at changing the topic.

"Alex, it's cloudy as fuck."

"Just like my soul."

Alice bursts out laughing. I don't even know why it's so funny, but so do I. Her laugh is so contagious.

But fate has to ruin that perfect moment, and it starts to pour down raining. With a few loud bangs of thunder too.

Alice screamed ever so slightly, and clung onto my arm.

"I can tell you don't like thunderstorms?"

She shook her head and clung to my arm very tightly, it felt as if she was trying to pry my arm off of my body.

"Well let's get home then. You'll be okay, it's not very far."

Alice was very panicky, I had to say just the right thing to get her to calm down. It's not really going to help if you say 'Don't worry, it's just the Lightning that can hurt you... You have a one out of a thousand chance of being struck. But wearing metal objects and standing under trees increases that!'

She took hold of my hand and ran ahead of me, pulling my arm to get me to catch up.

"You don't see rain a lot, do you?"

"Nope.. We moved from Nevada."

Well that explains why she doesn't like rain. She ran into my house, I of course, had no choice but to follow her.

"Why'd we come in here?" My voice croaks.

I wonder how long it will take for me to stop croaking.

"Because.. My moms home and I don't really.. She doesn't really.."

I cut Alice off. "I understand."

"So what do we do now?"

"Well, we're soaking so go get changed. You can use some of my clothes in my room."

She hesitated at first, but then nodded and walked up the stairs into my room. Her soaking red converse squeaked with every step.

I decided to distract myself with food, I squeaked over to the fridge and pulled out a cold piece of pizza. Mm, cold pizza is the best. Not because I'm extremely lazy, but because it just tastes better.

I was so lost in this beautiful piece of pizza I didn't hear Alice come down the stairs.

"Hey, have any for me?" An obvious female voice said behind me.

I turned around and smiled. She was wearing a white Panic! At The Disco shirt and one of my dark blue flannels. She was also wearing a pair of blue skinny jeans. I forgot I owned those, actually.

"....There's more in the fridge." I said after a long, awkward pause.

She took like three pieces of the pepperoni pizza and ate them pretty quickly, if I may add. Not that I'm complaining... I'll just shut up now.

"Alex?"

Alice's voice brought me back to reality.

"Hmm?"

"Why are you staring at me?"

Fuck. I was, wasn't I?

Yes.

"Oh.. Um..You'rejustsoprettyandIwanttokissyou."

Why the hell did I just say that?

She looked at me weirdly.

Well. Now I'm pretty sure she heard me so I'm just gonna go hide because she's straight and now she hates me hahaha..

"Alex? Look at me."

I turn my head to her.

"I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to I know that you don't like me, I'm sorry for-"

She crashed her lips onto mine. I felt fireworks. I was also extremely confused. She's straight.

It was a passionate kiss, but it was also calm and soothing. I don't know if I'm making any sense, I can't really describe things.

"Will you be my boyfriend?"

Alice whispered into my ear.
