"Can you do anything right?!"
I awoke abruptly to a shouting down the hall. The room was pitch black, and I couldn't see anything other than the lights from cars passing outside. I clicked the home button of my phone.
4:53am
Stretching, I decided to eavesdrop. I know, I know, Alex, what a bad person you are. Yeah, save the lectures for later. I put my ear to the door so I could hear more.
"I thought we were over this!"
"The boy is hiding something, I don't want you with him!"
One of the voices was obviously Alice's, but I didn't know the other girls.
"Just listen to me!" The other girl stressed.
"I love him, he is supportive, he is wonderful, he is everything I've ever wanted-"
I stopped listening for a second, my head feeling faint- they're arguing about me.
"He's hiding something! I can see it in the way he stands!"
"Jordan, I'm done with your shit, he has anxiety, he's not hiding anything."
Is it that obvious? Can Jordan really think I'm hiding something?
Well, either way, she's not wrong.
I opened the door, the lighting from the den flooding in.
"Hey." I said, my voice bemused and scratchy.
"Y-you didn't hear anything, did you?"
A skinny, average hight girl, with bluish green eyes and freckles covering her face, with wavy brown hair, a white and blue Nike jacket, a purple shirt, and a pair of black and white leggings looked at me, a bit scared by my pissed behavior.
"Not at all. I didn't hear the yelling outside of my peaceful slumber. That's why I'm out here. Just enjoying getting up early."
She exhaled and smiled.
"I was being sarcastic," I say emotionless and raise an eyebrow. "What am I hiding, Jordan? It can't be my hatred for you, because that's pretty obvious."
I sat down on the couch next to Alice where she hit my hand and glared at me. I shrugged, I'll tell people I don't like them if I don't. Simple.
"Careful honey, you might catch flies."
Sass Queen strikes again. Hah.
"I-y-you're not hiding anything."
"Well, why did I wake up to hearing you scream to my girlfriend about how I'm hiding anything?" I pull a handful of goldfish out of the bowl in Alice's lap.
Alice seems quiet, she doesn't know how to respond, she doesn't know what side to pick.
"I-goodnight guys." She curls up on the opposite couch, her cheeks burning red with embarrassment.
Sass Queen gets another point.
"You had to do that?" Alice whispers at me harshly.
"I don't like it when people talk about me negatively loudly." I sign and yawn, trailing back into the room and pulling myself in all of the blankets before just sleeping on the floor in a ball.
"Goodnight."
I fidget, Alice's voice startling me for a moment before I mumble something and loudly say "Good Nitrogen."
I stare at the cars going down the street, the cars and red, white, and green lights everywhere before settling off to bed.
