I'd like to call it a coincidence, but I don't believe in them. If something happens, it happens for a reason.
Unless it's something like rape... Okay I'll just shut up with my thoughts now.

Finally.

Shush, you.

I've explained I talk to my thoughts, right? Anyways.

"Hello? Hi? Are you alive?"

A paper white hand waves in front of my face. I look up and guess who's standing in my living room? Ocean haired girl. The one who I said was really pretty and I'd never see again. She's meant to be in my life, I guess.

"...Oh. Um. Hi." My voice cracked.

I did a two finger salute thingy.

"I'll leave you two to talk."

My father walked into the kitchen with Ocean's mother.

"So uh.. My names Alice."

She smiled at me. Her smile was absolutely heart melting. I smiled in return.

"Alex."

My voice was defiantly lower than hers, and cracked because I never talk, another reason I was confused for a boy.

"So we'll be neighbors now, huh?"

"I guess so. And I think we'll be great friends."

Alice blushed a little. This couldn't be happening. She, is either extremely nervous around me.. Or she likes me? I seriously hope it's not the first one.

"You wanna go to the park or something?"

I cringed and frowned. The park. I haven't been since... Ethan.. I don't want to get into it. But maybe this is what I need, memories cannot be discarded, but replaced. Say, as a child you fell off your bike, if you cry and hide the bike away in your garage it'll leave you with a bad memory. But you could get back on the bike, and that would replace the memory of falling. Am I making any sense?

No.

I ignored this thought. I decided to try it out.

"Why not?"

She smiled and took my arm, running off to the park. Which was only a block away, yeah I explained this already.

"The stars are really beautiful tonight..."

She trailed off and beamed at me.
Her smile couldn't help but make me smile at her too.

"Race ya to the swings."

I winked at her and sprinted towards the empty orange swing set. Alice following behind me.

"So now's where we get to know each other, right?"

My cracking voice asked and she nodded.

"Favorite color?" Her angelic voice rang through my head.

"Black."

She looked slightly amused by my answer.

"White."

She responded.

"Favorite time of day..?"

I asked.
