Learning to Love Right Chapter 4

To my dismay Niklaus showed up with Tatia. It put me in a bad mood but I tried my hardest to act like I didn't care.

"Hey Care come hear there's someone I want you to meet" I heard one of my sisters call. I walked to Elena who had called me mentally thanking her for pulling me from Niklaus and Tatia's public show of affection.

"Care this is Damon Salvatore, Damon this is my sister Caroline" Elena said giving me her play-nice-or-I'll-kill-you look and then turning and smiling flirtatiously again at him. I was known as the sister with the sharp tongue but I played nice for Elena.

"It's nice to meet you Mr. Salvatore" I said smiling politely at him.

"Oh please Mr. Salvatore is my father. Call me Damon and the pleasure is all mine" Damon replied.

"Caroline come here" Katherine called.

"It was nice meeting you" I said and then scurried off to Katherine.

"Caroline this is Stefan Salvatore, Stefan this is my sister Caroline" Katherine said giving me her mess-this-up-and-I'll-kill-you-look.

"A pleasure Stefan. So are you Damon's brother"? I asked.

"Yes. Unfortunately so" Stefan joked and all of us laughed.

"Oh Caroline" Rebekah called me sweetly but by her tone I could tell she had devious plans.

"I must go see what she wants. It was nice meeting you Stefan" I said rushing to Rebekah's side.

"Caro this is Matt Donavan. Matt this is Caroline" Rebekah said. And now I know to be cautious around Rebekah.

"Well I must go help get ready for dinner. Good bye Matt, Caroline" she said scurrying off.

"Rebekah's off to her match making again" Matt said.

"So she does this often"? I asked incredulously.

"Yeah to everyone in the village" Matt said. I laughed especially because I saw a jealous Niklaus in the corner of my eye.

*Nik's POV

I came back from the meadow with Tatia. We walked hand in hand and my mind wondered to the blonde beauty that had arrived in the village today. I couldn't get her out of my head.

Then I saw her talking with my little sister and the Donavan boy. I instantly became furious at the way he was looking at her. The only thing keeping me from hurting him was Tatia's grip on my hand.

"I had fun today Tatia but I must go wash up before dinner"I said stalking off before she could reply.

At dinner I had cooled off only to be infuriated to see the Donavan boy was sitting next to Caroline.

"Mikael why is the boy here" I said trying but failing to hide my anger.

"Calm down Niklaus. Alaric is looking for a husband for Caroline so I had Rebekah introduce them. Don't screw this up boy" Mikael spat.

I had to sit through dinner and watch Caroline being fawned over.

Once we were dismissed I fled to take out my anger. The question that stayed in my mind was why did I even care?
