-Mariska's POV-

After an hour of getting provoked by all three of them, I finally had enough and went to bed.

"I can't take it any more, night," I said, getting up and heading to my carriage. I wasn't offended by them, but none of them would shut up.

"We're only joking, you know that Mariska?" Jacob shot up quickly to my side, not wanting yet another argument

"I know, but none of you will shut up, and frankly, I'm getting a headache," I said, smiling at them all, and walking in the direction of my room.

-

"Good morning Mariska, I hope you slept well?" Evie welcomed me as I emerged from my carriage.

"I did thank you,"

"I am sorry about last night, it's just that I've never seen Jacob so smitten before," Evie said. I think everyone knew Jacob and I had feelings for each other, there was no need for secrecy

"It's quite alright," I said, sitting down opposite her. "Have you got any more leads?"

"I'm afraid not, but I think I remember Jacob complaining about some gang members near here, go speak to him, not that I need to ask you to," Evie smirked, getting up before I could slap her.

I went through to the next carriage to find the devil himself speaking with a few Rooks. As he saw me, he shooed them away and offered me the seat next to him, which I gladly took, of course.

"Evie said you had something you wanted to do," I asked, eyeing his jacket. He always had one lapel of his green waistcoat tucked into his jacket. I un-tucked it and made quite a confused face, making Jacob laugh. It didn't look right (because let's face it, he isn't exactly the most neatest person), and I tucked it back in, satisfied.

"There's a reason I always have that one tucked in love," He said, still laughing. "But yes I do have something I need to do, there are some more gangs in the area I want to take out,"

"Let's go then," I said, getting up and grabbing his hand.

-

We were walking in between the boroughs on high alert. Yet again, Jacob hasn't planned this out. If we get killed, it's on him. As we progressed, a Rook ran up to us, covered in blood and out of breath.

"Boss, the Blighters just launched an attack on us,"

"I can see that," Jacob retorted back

"Jacob! Now is not  the time for your fuckery," I said, hitting his arm. "Where?"

"I'll lead 'ya miss," The Rook said, starting to jog in the direction

He led us right through to the end of the borough, until we could see a massive group of both Rooks and Blighters cutting each other down. Jacob and I looked at each other, and agreed in silence that we would kill every single Blighter.

I started on one side, pelting one in the face with my brass knuckles. I turned around and threw my kukri in another's eye, killing him instantly in a bloody mess. I ran over to the corpse, pulled out my blade, and stabbed another's abdomen, making him crumple to the floor.

-

10 minutes later, the battle had finished. The remaining Rooks had escaped the scene, leaving me and Jacob left in the corpse littered street. He was covered in blood, Blighter's and his own. Somehow, his lapel managed to stay tucked in all that time. He had obviously caught me looking at him, when he leaned down and wiped the blood off of my nose.

"M'lady," He says, offering me his arm, which I gladly took. We walked together, trying to wipe off the blood, we didn't want any extra attention. We was just about to pass an old man selling flowers on the side of the street, until he spoke to us.

"Can I offer you some flowers for the lady?" He asked Jacob, nodding his head towards me

"Oh, I'm no-"

"Yes, actually, she loves flowers," Jacob smiled, offering the man coin in exchange for some roses. He  handed them me, kissing my nose

"To the lovely couple," The old man said, tipping his hat.

"I hate you," I laughed once we were out of earshot

"I just bought you flowers you ungrateful mare," He said, poking my cheek

"You're the one who offered," I smirked, "How could I turn down an offer from someone like you?"

We looked up, feeling drips of rain on our cheeks. Rain. In London. How could I have guessed? We fast-walked (that's a thing okay?) Until he stopped us, our hands intertwined.

"Jacob, what are you-"

"Shh, love,"

"Fine, If I get a cold-" He silenced my complaining with his lips. We were stood like that for some time, until we realised it started raining harder.

"Race you to the train," Jacob said, running ahead
