(This is just something I wanted to do. It's probably crap, lol).

It was the end. My face had lost the last feeling in it and my motions were becoming automatic. I had lost all fervor. My lightsaber hilt was gripped loosely in my right hand, now a weapon against those Clones that I cared so much for and never saw myself raising my weapon against.

I was holed up in the circular Jedi Council room but the pain that swelled here was almost too much. The darkness messed with my mind and I had to avoid looking at the bodies of the fallen Younglings but my bearings were still scattered.

He had been here. I felt the Sith's presence. The coldness was making me sick but there was another factor that came to play. It almost felt familiar. It was tormenting and biting at my soul. Even the Clone armor on my right forearm felt as heavy as the darkness suffocating me.

My com went off and I swore as I kept my lightsaber in hand and brought it close to my face. "Xeniah?! Xeniah, are you there?"

I growled into the com, talking as quickly as I could. "Jedi Council Chambers. If you kill me I hope you can live with yourself."

The voice over the com turned soft, loosing all panic but urgency was still pressed. "Xeniah, you know me better than that."

I sighed. After holding back these emotions toward him for several months, I let them roll forward in my voice. "Rex, I do but... you have no idea..." My voice cracked and fell off.

His new tone was hard, protective just like it always was, "I'm almost there, General... I was able to save-."

The transmission was suddenly cut off and filled with static as they started to block my transmission. I let out a breath I wasn't thinking about. Captain Rex had saved someone at least. My own chest heaved. I had only saved two by my count.

The Force rippled. My throat swelled as I realized what was happening. No... The door to the chamber was being slammed against and shot at by Clones in a weak attempt to break it down. They had traced my transmission to my spot, as I feared, when it went off. I had, maybe, five seconds before someone actually blew the sealed door down.

I closed my eyes. Though the Force in this room felt haunted and uneven with the light and dark, I reached out with Battle Meld. Through the Force I felt Rex with Battle Meld. He was close. I shrugged and opened my eyes. Close enough.

I turned from the center of the room and ignited my lightsaber. The count down of explosives reached my ears five seconds before the entrance exploded and four seconds before my lightsaber went through glass followed by my whole body weight. The web of cracks formed by my lightsaber gave in under my weight. My shoulder burned and my exposed skin on my fingers felt as if splinters were being stabbed into them over and over. My right forearm was protected by the armor but the inside of my left felt shards of glass.

Wind whipped my right side as the explosion heated my left side. I turned my head away from the explosion and saw a small ship, I think it was a freighter, rapidly coming toward my position. Through Battle Meld I felt Rex's panic when he dipped the ship into a dive so I would fall on the ramp that was extending from the belly of it with a Clone hanging onto one of the two poles at the end of the ramp.

Debris floated over my head before my lightsaber sheathed and I fell into a dive head first into the city below. Free falling was never my favorite thing but this moment really made me hate it. I stretched out with my left hand, desperate to grab something.

As it came closer, I saw the Clone furiously loading what looked like a weapon while he held on with his arm wrapped around the pole. At this point, I was upon the ship and prayed Rex could hold his dive for a moment longer.

My fingers grabbed hold of the edge of the ramp but it wasn't enough hold to latch on. I cried out as my fingernails scratched and broke against the metal. A shrill noise filled my ears as I went under the ramp and my middle fingernail broke off completely. My body hit the underside and my hand lost contact.

I kept falling with a mental cry so penetrating that Rex felt it through Battle Meld.

His pain ripped my heart as I kept falling toward the streets of Coruscant.

There will be a Part 2. :)
