We found a nice place in the church where everything would take place. It was a dusty old thing all right. Johnny laid down his jacket for a cushion for my head and he got on top of me. I wasn't even sure if I was ready for this or not.

Johnny went to lean in for a kiss-

"Johnny wait, I don't know if I'm ready yet... You're my first,"

"You're my first too," he chuckled a bit, "and if things are going to fast for you, we can take things slower if you would like to. I won't force you to do anything you don't want to do," he got off of me and smiled a comforting smile, reassuring me that everything was going to be okay.

"Thanks Johnny," I smiled back. Nothing ended up happening that night. All we did was joke around and talk about stuff. It was nice to be with Johnny and all but the floor was hard and cold. It was nicer when we slept in the grass because at least that was softer. Johnny let me use his jacket as a pillow and he just used his shirt. We used each other's body heat for warmth.

In the morning Johnny and I decided to walk down the mountain and to the local store for supplies and food. We ended up getting all kinds of food, a deck of cards, a pocket Chess set (Johnny wanted me to teach him how to place Chess because I was so good at it), soap, a flashlight, backup batteries for the flash light, and a couple of books. The books we got were Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carrol, Gone With the Wind (I guess that was a book Pony talked so highly about), and a Dick and Jane book just for kicks. They didn't have a lot of book options at the store. We had also bought one big blanket. It was the only one they had. He had also bought himself a pack of cigarettes. I didn't smoke them, but he sure did.

"Hey (Y/N)?"

"Yeah Johnny?"

"Could you read me this book?" he pointed to Gone With the Wind. "I'd really like it if you did. You see, I don't understand nothin' when I read it myself but when someone reads it to me I understand it better. I guess you could say that I'm not real book smart," Johnny laughed.

"Of course Johnny," I laughed too and smiled at him. He was so cute when he laughed.

I felt kind of bad when he said that he wasn't real book smart because he really wasn't. He was street smart though. He didn't get very good grades in his school and it wasn't his fault. He didn't see the point in getting good grades. He had no reason he wanted to learn other than he didn't want to get held back. You see, he has no motivation in school because his parents never once believed in him being successful at anything, especially school. They put him down so much that the only reason he has to live is the gang. However, I hope on changing that in him. I believe he could do great things in his life if he had a reason to try and had motivation.

After a while of reading the story to Johnny, we both were kind of tired. It had been hours so it was nearing bed time for us. We hadn't eaten too much, which was going to be problem with all the food we had. It needed to be eaten because it wasn't going to be good forever. Eventually it was going to get rotten or moldy.

"Hey Johnny?"

"Yeah (Y/N)?"

"Are you happy?"

"Well what do you mean? Like at this moment?"

"Well like are you happy with you life?"

"Now I am. Now that I have someone like you in my life," Johnny smiled.

"So you'll hold off killing yourself right?"

"Of course. I promised you didn't I?" He walked towards me, held me close, and kissed my forehead.

"Good." I kissed hiss lips softly and he kissed back. I broke away and said, "We should probably be going to bed now." I was tired and it was late at night.

"Yeah okay," he was still smiling. So we got all situated and comfy for bed. We ended up making ourselves a little bed out of the blanket we bought at the store. We also decided to sleep outside instead of inside the church because it was more comfortable and we both enjoyed looking at the stars.

That night was much better than last night, but something woke us up the next morning.

"Johnny wake up!" a mysterious voice called out.

"Huh?... What?" Johnny rubbed his eyes and he saw that it was Dallas.

"Get up punk! What's this about running away and not telling us where you were going?! We were worried sick!"

"H-How did you find us anyway??"

"I knew you would be here because I was the on who told you about it smart one! Besides, it's not like you've been outside of town before anyways," Dally said. It was obvious he was pretty angry.

"Yeah! What the heck Johnny!" Ponyboy was there too.

I just sat there awkwardly in the grass until Dally picked me up by my shirt collar, "Is this your doing!? Why are you influencing Johnny to do bad things huh??" He was right up in my face... I wanted to just bite his nose off right there because I hated it when people were violent with me.
"Let her go Dallas!" Johnny yelled, which silenced Dally. "It was my idea!"

"I just followed along! Now let go of me!" Dally loosened his grasp on me.

"Sorry..." he said.

"It' fine... Just never to that again," I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Johnny why are you running off with strange girls all of the sudden!? You barely met her and you decided to run away with her!?" Pony was pretty ticked too...

"She's not just a strange girl! I... I love her," Johnny slightly blushed, then he was serious again.

"You've known her like a week!" Pony said.

"So?? That don't mean nothin'!" Johnny crossed his arms. "And if you guys can't accept that then just leave now."

"Look Johnny. Lets just talk this over. Pony, calm down, and we can go get something to eat. We're just hungry," Dally was much more clam now.

"Okay," Johnny agreed, calmed down too and lit a cigarette.

"Now come on. Let's get in the car and pass me one of those cancer sticks Johnnycake," Dally said then Johnny passed Dally and Ponyboy a cigarette and we all got in his car to head off to Dairy Queen.
