Luke volunteered to take Mim home so that Dominic could see what the other group had found. Calvin and Amelia, holding hands, eagerly led us through the woods.

"How much farther?" Sophie asked.

"About four seconds," Amelia said, turning around.

I looked around, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. "What is it?"

Amelia smiled and pointed to the sky. I looked up, and saw what they had found. Or rather, who they had captured.

A young man, probably about twenty, was tied up on a tree branch, unconscious.

"A wolf?" Dominic asked.

"No, Dom, we captured an innocent human," Calvin said sarcastically.

"What do we do with him?" I asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Calvin responded. "We take him with us. We use him for information, maybe even as leverage."

"Seems risky," Dominic said.

"I think it's a great idea," Amelia said, kissing Calvin on the cheek.

"Me too," I added, earning a weird look from Dominic.

"Where are we keeping him?" Sophie asked.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Dominic warned.

"We could keep him at my house," Calvin said. "I could set up a schedule and we could take turns missing school to watch him."

"That all seems nice but-" Dominic tried.

"But we want to take it easy on the guys that have been killing people all over town?" Calvin asked. "Come on, man. These guys tried to blow up your little sister and you just want to let them off easy?"

"Fine," Dominic looked at the ground. "On one condition."

"What?" Calvin asked.

"I don't want Mim watching him," Dominic said. "She's only thirteen. I'm not letting her get involved with him."

"Thirteen?" I asked. "I thought she was a sophomore."

"She skipped third and seventh grade," Dominic explained, and looked at Calvin for his answer.

"I would never expect her to," Calvin said.

Dominic nodded, and Calvin climbed up with a knife to cut the guy down. He successfully made it, and let the guy fall to the ground.

I bent down and got a closer look. He was rather handsome for an evil werewolf. He had brown hair, and a strange tattoo on his arm. It looked like some sort of swirling pattern.

Sophie looked down at him and rolled her eyes. "Well, you guys have fun with him. Come on, Lana." She spun around and started walking back to the car. I ran to catch up to her.

"You're not curious as to what he has to say?" I asked.

"No," she snorted. "You know how torture goes."

"Actually, I don't," I said.

"Me neither, but I've got a pretty clear idea. We'll chain him up in Calvin's basement, wait for him to wake up, say a few mean things that'll make him laugh, and he'll stall for as long as he possibly can while waiting for his pack to come rescue him."

"Do you think that's what Dominic is worried about? His pack coming for him?"

"Why don't you ask him, lover girl?" Sophie teased.

We reached the parking lot, which was still empty aside from Sophie and Calvin's cars. Sophie and I climbed into her car, and thoughts of the mysterious wolf began to swirl around my brain. I hoped Calvin came up with the schedule soon, so I could see when I would be watching him, presuming I was included. They could easily keep him weak with wolfsbane, making it easy for even a human such as myself to keep an eye on him.

"Thinking about Dominic?" Sophie asked.

"No, actually, considering I have no feelings for him whatsoever," I told her.

"Oh please, you're fire and he's ice. You're like a little ball of fire, coming in here and sending his life into chaos. A good chaos. He likes it. And he's got this cold exterior, just like ice, but on the inside he's just... water."

"Water?" I laughed. "If he's water, I'm oil."

"You can fool yourself, but you can't fool me," Sophie said.

I didn't answer her. What could I say to someone trying to convince me that I felt for someone? The worst part was that she was right. Maybe not about the weird ice thing, but everything else. It was easy for me to deny, considering I was as small as a child with a crush. But what could I do? What was I supposed to do with all those feelings inside of me? I couldn't let them go. I could never let them go. It wasn't humanly possible for me to go to him, and to tell him how I felt. I didn't even know what I felt.

I had never felt it before.
