When Sophie dropped me back off at Gerald's house, Lupe offered me a sandwich. Having been hung over in the morning, I hadn't realized how hungry I had allowed myself to get. I sat myself down at the table.

"Where were you going with that girl?" Lupe asked.

"Oh, we just went to hang out at her place," I lied. I wondered what Lupe would think if I told her the truth.

"What's her name?" Lupe asked.

"Sophie Cook," I answered.

"You haven't been hunting at all since you got that boy?" Lupe asked.

"No," I said. "None since that boy."

"I hope your not losing sight of your mission," Lupe said, suspicion flaring in her eyes.

"I'm not," I said, taking the sandwich from her. "Thank you. I think I'll take this upstairs."

Clutching the plate in my hands, I tried to walk to the staircase, but Lupe stopped me.

"Lana," she said, making me turn around. She made a motion to the top of her own forehead, suggesting that I had something on mine. I reached up and felt the warm blood on my head.

"I think I... I hit my head on the car door," I said.

"Right," she narrowed her eyes slightly, and I escaped up the stairs.

"Jesus," I whispered to myself, plopping down on the bed and taking a bite out of my sandwich.

I was doing the right thing. Wasn't I? What had Dominic's pack ever done wrong? They were all great people, only a little different. I knew that Dominic, Mim, and Calvin were all at least born werewolves. Dominic and Mim were siblings; they had to be. As for Calvin, he offered his house to keep that mysterious guy. His parents had to be supernatural. They were born "evil", and none of them could ever hurt a fly. It wouldn't be right to kill them when they've never done any harm. Right?

I grabbed my phone and dialed my brother's number.

"Hello?" Matt answered on the second ring.

"Hey, I have a weird question for you," I said.

"Okay," he stretched out the word.

"Do you remember that Omega I killed right before I left?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said.

"Do you remember why I killed him?" I asked.

"What do you mean?"

"The reason I killed him. What was it?"

"He was a werewolf."

"Okay, but what did he do? Who did he kill?"

"I don't know if he killed anyone, but he would have eventually. They're all killers."

"Okay," I said.

"Okay?" He asked. "Was that all you wanted?"

"Yes, Matt. That was all I wanted," I said. "I'll talk to you later."

I hung up on him before he could respond. Matt had always been on my side. I couldn't think of a time when he hadn't had the answer for me, or when we had disagreed. Matt's opinion was my opinion. My mom said they're all killers. Matt said they're all killers. Even Lupe wanted me to slaughter them.

I knew, though. I knew they weren't evil. They were just people, very special people.

I walked into the office and plopped down in front of the computer. I tried to find town records to find the name of the werewolf we captured in the woods, but I didn't have any information on him to aid my search.

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I rolled my eyes when I saw that Matt was calling me back.

"What?" I answered harshly.

"Hey," a small voice came from the other side of the line.

"Betty?" I asked, smiling a little when I thought of my younger sister.

"Yeah, it's me an' Wes," she said.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Matt said that you called and we just wanted to say hi," Betty answered.

"Have you killed any?" Wesley asked excitedly.

"I did," I said

"How many?" He asked.

"Just one," I bit my lip. "What have you guys been up to?"

"Matt's been taking us out into the woods," Betty said. "We found one eating the other day, and Wes shot it in the leg. Mom and dad are letting him use arrows now, and I got my gun."

"Did you kill it?" I asked.

"Oh yeah," she answered. "It lunged at Wes, and Matt shot him right through the head. It was awesome."

"I'm sure it was," I said. "But you guys still haven't killed any of them?"

"No," she said sadly. The thought of them killing disturbed me, and I was glad to hear that they hadn't.

I didn't know what to say, and the line stayed silent for a long time until Betty finally spoke up again.

"Bye, Lana."

"Yeah, bye," Wes said.

"I'll talk to you later," I said, hanging up.

I stared at the phone in my hand, wondering if Betty and Wesley would become the killers they were expected to be.
